Peta Wilson brought to life the character Nikita in the groundbreaking cable series "La Femme Nikita", which paved the way for series' based on tough but feminine women.
Peta Gia Wilson was born on November 18th, 1970, in an Irish family, her father, Darcy, was in the Australian Army and her mother Karlene, a caterer. Soon she had a brother, Rob, who followed his father's footsteps and now drives a boat for the Australian army. The family moved to a new Army posting every 6 months and the Army brats learned to make friends fast. The family moved to Papua New Guinea, where they stayed until Peta was five. There the children had no television and often no electricity or running water, life was not easy without basic amenities. They passed their time mimicking things they had seen on television at rare visits to their grandparent's house, a sort of improvised theatre.

Peta learned piano, tap dance and learned to sail in competition with her father, there she ran wild with a natural, free spirit. Peta continued sports and was truly a tomboy, until her mother sent her to deportment classes at 15.
Several years later she was modeling and traveled after high school with her modeling career to the catwalks of Italy, Paris and London. In 1991, she decided to try an acting career in the United States. She started in New York but was soon in LA, studying acting with a diligence and continued modeling.
Peta landed roles in a few films, but she is most well-known for her five-year portrayal of Nikita in the cult television series "La Femme Nikita".

When she visited the Moscow Film festival, she dined with President Putin. When Peta was interviewed and told that Roy Dupuis favorite role had been Michael and she was asked whether she would return to an eventual new LFN program, she replied that she was looking forward to it.

In the 2003 film "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", Peta was the only woman in the cast. She played a Victorian-era vampiress, Mina Harker who had been Dracula's lover, alongside Sean Connery, to foible a devious plot in Venice that menaced all of humanity.
