Opera music plays as a small plane flies over a lake.
Pilot:( over the radio)
South Haven, this is Mooney-three-three-golf.
Control Tower:
Mooney-three-three-golf, South Haven. We have you level at 5,000.
Pilot: Roger. Request vectors,
full-stop landing runway three-two.
Control Tower: Copy,
three-three-golf. Turn right heading two-seven-zero descend to
3,000. Altimeter two-niner-niner-two.
Pilot: Three-three-golf. Right
heading two-seven-zero in a descend to 3,000. Altimeter two-
niner-niner-two.
In a large room underground, a dark, thin man, Sparks, looks at a
screen showing the paths of two planes.
Sparks: How far apart are
they?
Siobhan, a woman with a pierced lip and spiky hair is sitting at a
computer.
Siobhan: Exactly one mile. They're
both inbound.
Sparks: (looks down at her)
On a convergent path?
She nods and he walks away.
Sparks: (climbing up a set of
stairs) Very... good... Turn it up!
The music becomes louder.
Control Tower: Three-three-golf,
you are cleared final runway three-two. Winds three-three-zero at
15. Be advised visibility is reduced on final half mile.
The pilot can't see through the clouds.
Pilot: Roger, South Haven. I don't
see the field insight. Continue vectors.
Control Tower: Turn left
two-seven-zero. Descending.
Pilot: Roger, descending.
The pilot descends. On the screen, one dot goes off its path and
toward the other.
Sparks: How much longer?
Siobhan: (smiling)
Any second now!
Control Tower: Three-three-golf,
you're lined up runway three-two, cleared to land.
Pilot: I have field visual this
time, Southaven. Cleared to land.
The pilot sees the runway now and its clear to land. He starts to
turn. The dots come closer and closer. The pilot sees the plane but
it's too late. The dots become one. Everyone in the room cheers as
the planes crash into each other. The man in the control tower slowly
sets down his binoculars in amazement. Sparks' image is shown over the
explosion.
Sparks: It begins.
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
Nikita is listening to her headphones and making some wire sculpture
in the shape of a fish in her apartment when someone knocks on the
door. Nikita hides a pair of pliers behind her as she peeks through
the peephole. She instantly opens the door.
Nikita: Carla, what's wrong?
Carla walks in, crying, and hugs Nikita.
Carla: I just need someone to
talk to.
Nikita closes the door.
Nikita: What's wrong?
Carla: Well, he's getting
married.
Nikita: Married?
Carla: Yeah, to his ex-girlfriend
who he also happened to be dating the last three months that we were
going out. (Carla slowly paces in front of Nikita.) When I
think of all the excuses that he made to cancel... You know, he's the
one who told me that he didn't want the commitment.
The phone rings.
Nikita: I'm sorry, Carla,
I've got to get it. (Nikita picks up the phone.) Hello?
Michael: Josephine.
BRIEFING
Operations: As you know, the
Internet is frequently monitored for any communication that is
interpreted as a national breech of security. Two days ago, we
detected the recruiting efforts of a group we've encountered in the
past; Glass Curtain.
That gets Michael's attention.
Michael: I thought they were
inactive.
Operations: So did
we. Unfortunately, they're not just recruiting. There has been an
incident. (The holographic screen pops up.) Which was
originally thought to be an accident caused by human error, but Glass
Curtain has claimed responsibility. (The screen shows an aerial
view of the remnants of two planes scattered over the ground.)
This politics of... chaos and destruction is the brainchild of this
man here- (The screen shows Sparks walking with information on the
side.) Errol Sparks. His message is anarchy, and his weapon is
technology. (Michael starts to look bothered and uneasy. Nikita
notices.) He has a capable group of malcontents who do all his
dirty work. These are college students, Mensa members,
dropouts... They're all highly skilled and willing devotees. Birkoff
will give you-
Michael: (interrupting him)
We don't need the history lesson. Just give us the relevant data and
let's move.
Operations: The last time I
checked on the protocol for briefings, it didn't include disruptive
behavior. (Operations looks at him.) Birkoff is monitoring the
situation now. We hope to have a hook on it soon. Now, until then,
we're going to be on close-quarter standby. No one leaves the
Section. (Operations stands up and the screen disappears.)
Morrison, you and Koi report to Comm. See Birkoff.
Operations glares at Michael. Michael gets up and follows him to a
small section of the room off to the side.
Michael: I should be first team on
this.
Operations: You and Nikita will
anchor for me here.
Nikita gets up from her seat, listening to their conversation.
Michael: You don't think I can do
this?
Operations: No, I don't. You're
too emotionally vested.
Operations tries to leave but Michael stops him. They speak in hushed
tones.
Operations: Listen to me. If you
can convince me in ten seconds that you can do that, you can do it,
Michael... just look me in the eye. Don't say a damn word. (A
staring contest ensues.)
Operations: Fine. (He walks
back to the table.) Morrison, you and Koi will be Team
Two. Nikita, you go with Michael.
Michael and Nikita leave together.
Nikita: Who's Glass Curtain,
Michael?
Michael: You heard Operations.
Nikita: This guy Sparks, do you
know him?
Michael: I'll fill you in when I'm
ready.
Michael walks up to Birkoff, working at one of his computers.
Nikita: Then what was that
about?
He ignores her.
Michael: (to Birkoff) What
have you got?
Birkoff: It's an IRC in
progress.
Nikita: What's an IRC?
Birkoff: Someone wasn't paying
attention in computer class.
Michael slaps him on the back of his head.
Michael: Not today.
Nikita looks at Michael oddly.
Birkoff: It's a chat room. A place
where social misfits log onto the Internet and argue with each
other.
Michael: Which one is Glass
Curtain?
Birkoff: This guy right here,
Hester. The dude is laying some heavy ideology on these freaks.
Nikita: Anything about the plane
crash?
Birkoff: Yeah. He brags about it
every other minute. They're eating it up.
Michael: How do we get to this guy
Hester?
Birkoff: We can't from here. He's
using a dynamic address scheme.
Michael: Can we log into the
conversation? Pretend to be a new recruit?
Birkoff shakes his head and rolls in his chair over to get something.
Birkoff: From what I can tell, you
have to have a sponsor, someone on the inside. They give you a
password. That lets you into the group.
Michael: Can you locate one of
them?
Birkoff: Already did. This guy
right here, JB.
Michael: All right, let's go.
The three of them leave for the van.
VIDEO ARCADE
Birkoff is at his computer inside. They're at the location.
Birkoff: JB's in there.
Michael: Where?
Birkoff: I flagged his
screen. It'll flash red just like mine.
Nikita looks at it.
Nikita: I don't see any flashing
red.
Birkoff hands her a pair of red glasses and she puts them on. The
screen is tinted red, and then disappears, over and over.
Michael: Cover the exits. We're
going in.
Nikita and Michael go into the futuristic-looking building. Inside, an
automatic door opens for them and Nikita looks over the plaza filled
with arcade games and computers. Nikita is impressed.
Nikita: Wow.
Michael pushes two people out of the way and begins to look. Nikita
frowns. They walk around, looking at every screen until Nikita, in
the balcony, finds a boy with a black beret and a screen flashing
red.
Nikita: (smirks) Got him,
Michael.
He looks up at her.
Michael: Flush him, Birkoff.
Birkoff, with his feet up in the van, punches a few keys. He locates
JB, gives an evil laugh, and JB's screen shrivels away, giving a
"Transmission Violation" from the FBI.
JB: (frowns) FBI?
He leaves the computer in a rush and Nikita watches him go.
Nikita: Going south.
Nikita follows him down the stairs and Michael stops him at the exit.
JB stops, glances around, and takes off in another direction. Michael
goes after him. They go through a maze of arcade games until JB finds
a deserted red hallway. Two operatives stop him. He turns around but
Michael is there. JB goes through a secret door in the wall to a
separate room, but the operatives follow. They grab him.
JB: Let go of me!
Michael walks in and removes his glasses. Nikita stands in the
background.
Michael: Who's your contact at
Glass Curtain?
JB: I don't know! I wasn't even
going to join. I was just goofing with them.
Michael hits him in the face.
Michael: You were in the IRC. How
did you get the password?
JB: They contacted me. I never met
any of them.
Michael turns around, takes a few steps.
Michael: Who is your contact?
Nikita walks up to him.
JB: I said I don't know!
Michael pulls out his gun and points it at him. Nikita pushes it
away.
Nikita: (yelling) No!
Michael... what are you doing?
Michael has a look of confusion on his face as Nikita pushes his hand
away, still holding the gun. He takes a few steps, thinking.
Michael: Take him to Birkoff. Get
the password.
The operatives take him away as Michael tries to collect himself at
the window. Nikita walks up to him.
Nikita: Why? Why?!
Michael hesitates before replying.
Michael: Glass Curtain killed
Simone.
Nikita: (calmly) Who's
Simone?
Michael: My wife.
Michael looks at her quickly and walks away.
GLASS CURTAIN HEADQUARTERS
At Glass Curtain, opera music playing, someone dangles a small
computer board in front of Siobhan, the pierced-lip woman.
Man: Oh, look at you.
She takes it and the man who gave it to her stands at her side. She
instantly opens her terminal to insert it. Sparks steps up to
him.
Sparks: Did Leon ask any
question?
Man: He was too busy counting the
money.
Siobhan slides the board in.
Siobhan: Let's put you in.
Sparks: How long before you can
Q-A it?
Siobhan: This baby's
plug-and-play. (She closes the terminal and starts working. She
gets a virtual map of a building.) There it is; O'Hare
Airport. Every electronic pathway from radar control to men's room
light switch.
Sparks: Is it live?
Siobhan: Let's see.
Siobhan finds something and dials a number on the phone at her
side. A woman answers.
Woman: O'Hare Maintenance.
Siobhan: (sassy voice)
Yeah, this is the cafeteria. Did you guys just order some sandwiches?
The young man who got the hardware laughs.
Woman: Sandwiches? Uh, I didn't,
but hang on. I'll check.
Siobhan hangs up and an alarm goes off.
Sparks: Is that the fire
alarm?
Siobhan hangs up and looks up at the two men.
Siobhan: It'll be 20 minutes
before they realize it's a false alarm.
Sparks leans over until he's level with her face.
Sparks: Siobhan, I love your flair
for the dramatic.
Siobhan: O'Hare is yours. Just
tell me what you want.
Sparks doesn't reply, looking at her computer screen.
MICHAEL'S OFFICE
Nikita: It's been 24 hours. What
now?
Michael: Wait until JB's contact
gets online.
Michael sits down at the table. Nikita looks down at the cup she holds
and glances at Michael.
Nikita: Do you want me here?
Michael looks up at her.
Michael: Whatever you want.
Nikita looks at him, closes the door, and sits in the other
chair. Michael avoids eye contact.
Nikita: Did Simone work for the
Section? (Michael doesn't answer.) Michael, you can't tell me
you had a wife and she was killed then just drop it, get back to
business.
They look at each other.
Michael: Simone... was an
operative. She did work for the Section. It was supposed to be a cold
mission. The two of us went in to gather information about Glass
Curtain. Before we left, she asked for a back up team. I said it
wasn't necessary. I was wrong.
Nikita: Was it Sparks?
Michael: I don't know. We were
ambushed. There was a lot of shooters. It was three years ago.
Nikita shows sympathy on her face.
Nikita: It still hurts, doesn't
it?
Michael: (pauses) Listen,
Nikita, you asked me what happened... and I told you.
Nikita: You told me the facts.
Michael, I want to know how you feel. Sometimes you have to let
yourself trust someone. I'm right here.
Michael stares at the table. Before he can answer, Walter knocks on
the door and walks in.
Walter: Hester's finally logged
in. It turns out JB has something they want.
Michael: What is it?
Walter: An electrical layout to
Orly Airport.
Michael: How did JB get that?
Walter: He stole it from his
father, civil engineer. Hester wants to see JB in three hours.
Michael: Good. Let's get
ready.
Michael gets up.
Walter: Operations wants Nikita
posing as JB, not you. Feels that Nikita would be more believable as
disaffected youth.
Michael looks at the table and Nikita tilts her head back.
FIELD / COMM
Three hours later, Nikita is standing in a field wearing ski glasses
over tinted glasses and talks to Michael and Birkoff at Section
One.
Nikita: What's JB's favorite
writer's name? Who was he? Tyranny of the State?
Birkoff: Bakunin.
Nikita: That's right. Bakunin.
Michael: Don't worry. If you're
stuck, we'll feed you.
Nikita hears a helicopter approach.
Birkoff: Tilt your head higher. I
don't have all of it.
Nikita: Birkoff, can you see
him?
Birkoff watches through Nikita's glasses. He sees the helicopter.
Birkoff: That's it.
The helicopter lands by Nikita and a man, Ray, gets out. Nikita picks
up her bag.
Ray: You JB?
Nikita: Hester?
Ray: No. Name's Ray. Franklin
Charter. I'm supposed to pick up a JB.
Birkoff watches on his computer.
Nikita: I'm JB.
Ray: You alone?
Nikita: Yep. Just me.
Michael: Get closer to him. Stand
still. We need to verify this guy.
Nikita takes a few steps forward.
Ray: What are you waiting for?
Get in.
Nikita: I've never been in a
helicopter before. I'm a little nervous.
Ray: Don't be. You're in good
hands.
Michael: Not yet, Nikita.
Ray: Come on. I haven't got all
day. The clock's ticking.
He gets in.
Birkoff: Come on, come on. There
it is.
Michael: That's him. You're
clear.
Nikita walks around to the other side of the helicopter and gets in.
Nikita: Where are we going?
Ray: I can't tell you that. Put
these on.
He motions at the headgear hanging from a hook, the same he has
on. Nikita obeys.
The helicopter leaves the ground.
Michael: Zero margin for
error.
Sparks' voice comes over Nikita's headphones.
Sparks: JB, I presume.
Nikita: Hello?
Sparks: Interesting. From the
transcript, you sound more like a man.
Nikita: Is this Hester?<
Sparks: Close enough. (Watches
a screen with the two paths of two aircraft vehicles.) Do you have
Orly?
Nikita: Yeah.
Sparks: Tell me about yourself,
JB.
Nikita: I'm not committing to
anything yet.
Sparks: Oh... you're committed,
all right. I understand you spiked the punch bowl with LSD at your
junior prom.
Nikita: Where'd you hear
that?
Sparks: Tell me about it.
Birkoff shakes his head.
Michael: Never happened.
Nikita: Nothing to tell. Didn't
do it.
Sparks: My apologies. I mistook
you for one of my recruits. Tell me about your eighth grade math
teacher.
Nikita: I put her in jail for
failing me.
Sparks: How on earth did you do
that?
Nikita hesitates.
Birkoff: You hacked into the
county records and issued a bench warrant.
Nikita: I hacked into
county records and issued a bench warrant.
Sparks: One more question,
JB. What kind of music do you like?
Nikita: (mumbles to
herself) Music?
Birkoff shakes his head.
Michael: Nothing here.
Sparks waits for an answer while watching the two dots get closer and
closer. Then Nikita has a brainstorm and smiles.
Nikita: I don't listen to
music.
Sparks: Why not?
Nikita: Music evokes emotion.
Sparks: Emotion spawns
genius.
Nikita: Emotion blurs
judgment.
Sparks hesitates, then looks at Siobhan. She starts to type away. The
two dots come closer together until a man tells the pilot over the
radio,
Man: Jet Ranger 45-Alpha; descend
immediately.
Pilot: What?
Man: Drop the nose fast.
The pilot obeys and a plane passes very close over them.
Pilot: (yelling)Where the
hell did he come from?
Sparks: See you in a few minutes,
JB.
Nikita looks around disbelievingly.
GLASS CURTAIN HEADQUARTERS
Nikita is escorted down by the young man.
Young man: What does JB stand for?
'Juicy Bod'?
Nikita: (looks at him)
What is this place?
The man pulls a hair out of his head and puts it on a small screen.
The message "DNA verified" shows up.
Young man: You'll see.
The door lock clicks open and the man opens the door, allowing Nikita
to go first. They walk through an industrialized room of stairs and
pathways. Nikita follows. Opera music can faintly be heard. They
arrive to where Siobhan is tossing something in Sparks' hat as he
holds it. They stop and look at the man as he presents Nikita.
Young man: JB.
Sparks: So this is JB.
Sparks stands up and puts his top hat on. Nikita smiles at him. Sparks
shakes his head and Nikita's smile fails. Siobhan looks up from her
seat in the shadows.
Nikita: What's wrong?
Sparks: Something about the way
you look.
Nikita: Why? What's wrong with the
way I look? (Nikita puts flair on her last words.)
Sparks jumps over the couch.
Sparks: Like someone who's been
forgiven her entire life.
Nikita tilts her head down a little and shakes her head.
Nikita: I don't need forgiveness
from anyone, including you.
Sparks looks amused and smiles.
Sparks: You see, Siobhan. It's in
the eyes. There it is. Good.
Sparks starts to walk away.
Young man: She brought the
plans.
Sparks: Check it out, Siobhan.
She gets up and goes to her computer.
Nikita: And don't do a virus scan. The
header block's designed to launch itself-
Siobhan: Don't tell me what to
do.
Nikita: -if it detects a
probe.
The young man walks up to her.
Young man: Let's go.
They turn to leave but Sparks stops them.
Sparks: JB. You're a long way from
home... underground at the mercy of a crazed revolutionary. (He
looks at her.) Why aren't you afraid?
Nikita: Who says I'm not?
Sparks walks up to her, looking deep into her eyes. He stops right in
front of her, stoops down, and picks up her glove, handing it to her.
They look at each other for a few moments until Sparks takes his top
hat off and Nikita smiles. The young man motions her to follow
him. She obeys. As Sparks walks past Siobhan,
Siobhan: I don't like her.
Sparks: I don't like you.
The young man leads Nikita through more industrial paths and stairways
until they come to a ladder. He lets Nikita go first. She hands him
her bag and puts it on backwards, then follows her up. They walk down
a path until a woman screams from down below. Nikita stops and looks
down over the rail.
Nikita: What was that?
Young man: That? That's
Simone.
Nikita: Simone...
Young man: Yeah, some government
agent Sparks grabbed a couple of years ago. He keeps her alive... just
in case.
Nikita hears her groan a little, and the man leads her away. They
enter a room with a bunk bed and a TV.
Young man: Honeymoon Suite.
He puts her bag on the lower bunk and takes his jacket off. Nikita
closes the door.
Nikita: Where do you sleep?
He pats the top bunk.
Nikita: Looks like I've got the
best bed in the house.
Nikita sits on the lower bed and tries to change the channel on the
TV. He takes her hand.
Young man: Sorry. No cable...
Nikita looks at him.
Nikita: Aw... guess I'll have to
find some other way to entertain myself.
The man sits next to her.
Young man: Need some help?
He halfway lays down while Nikita sits at his feet.
Young man: You're easy.
Nikita goes over him to his face.
Nikita: I'm just nice.
Young man: Nice.
They kiss, and when he really starts to get into it, Nikita pulls his
head back and hits it hard on the bar behind him, knocking him
unconscious. She takes out a cigarette case, sorting through them
until she finds a little red button and pushes it.
COMM
Birkoff looks bored; the computer beeps.
Birkoff: Got her.
Michael: (turns around)
Where?
They look at his screen as Birkoff traces Nikita's signal.
Birkoff: Brilliant. An abandoned
military installation. Got it's own generator and it's airtight.
Michael: Where can we put the
mobile comm?
Birkoff: Uh... let me stroll
around the neighborhood for a nice, quiet place.
Operations walks up.
Operations: Michael.
Michael gets up and goes to him.
Operations: When are you
leaving?
Michael: As soon as we ready the
van.
Operations: (hesitates)
Just be prepared for anything.
Operations leaves and Michael goes back to Birkoff.
GLASS CURTAIN HEADQUARTERS
Nikita climbs down the ladder they had gone up. She glances around
and goes down a pathway. She hears a woman moaning, stops, and looks
down over the rail. She quickly goes down the nearest set of stairs
and down another pathway. She comes across a small room with a fenced
door. Inside, a figure lays on the floor.
Nikita: Simone?
She doesn't answer. Nikita glances down the hallway and slowly
approaches the door.
Nikita: Simone, I work for the
Section and I'm going to get you out of here but I have to get some
help. Do you understand?
Simone lifts her head a couple of inches and runs her hand over her
hair. There are small pieces of fabric tied on her fingers for
bandages. Nikita kneels down and takes her tinted glasses off.
Nikita: Michael's here... He still
loves you, Simone.
Simone lifts her head up more, but before she can say anything, Nikita
hears a door close in the distance and stands up. She rushes
away.
A plane takes off in slow motion to opera music. Sparks sits next to a
computer screen.
Siobhan: Flight 19 is in the
air.
Sparks: How long until it's over
the water?
Siobhan: 18 minutes.
Sparks: Good.
Sparks stands up and fakes a punch in the air, and then walks away.
Siobhan types at the keyboard.
Nikita has the ski glasses over her tinted ones again.
Nikita: Mobile comm, can you hear
me? Mobile comm, can you hear me?
Michael is in a helicopter with four other operatives.
Michael: Report.
Nikita: Sparks is going to down
some planes today. I don't know where.
Michael: All right. Get to your
exit point, Nikita.
Operations listens as he's on Michael's computer screen.
Michael: We're proceeding.
Nikita: All right, there's
something else.
Michael: What?
Nikita: Uh, there's an innocent
down here.
Michael's eyes widen.
Michael: A hostage?
Nikita: Yes.
Operations: Acceptable
collateral.
Michael: Forget it. Just go. We're
about to launch.
Nikita: No, you can't.
Michael: Let's not get into it,
Nikita. Move, now!
Nikita: Michael... it's
Simone.
Michael: What?
Nikita: I saw her. She's
alive.
Michael glances around, thinking of what to do.
Operations: This is a potential
air disaster Michael. Don't even blink.
Nikita: Michael?
Michael: Get to your exit point,
Nikita. I'm going to need you.
Nikita reaches over to the uncoscious guy and pulls out one of his
hairs.
Another plane takes off.
Siobhan: All right, Flight 135 is
in the air.
The red dot shows up on her screen. She punches a few keys
Siobhan: Okay... Flight 135,
you're about to meet Flight 19. (She turns to Sparks.) Seven
minutes, 13 seconds.
Sparks: (looks up) All
right.
Section operatives wait for Nikita on the ground and she runs up to
them.
Michael: What have you got?
Nikita: I counted 24, including
Sparks, everyone's armed. Their power line runs underneath the sewage
canal. Can't get to it.
Michael: Ingress and egress?
Nikita: The only way in is
through the front door.
Michael: Is that going to be a
problem?
Nikita holds up her cigarette case.
Nikita: Not if you've got
this.
Michael motions to the operatives to follow them and they run the
direction that Nikita came from. As they wait for the front door to
unlock,
Michael: How is she?
Nikita: Not good, Michael.
They get in, shoot a man standing right there, then go on. Nikita and
Michael stay behind.
Michael: Where?
Nikita points down. Michael goes down the stairs and Nikita follows
the other operatives. Michael goes down the same pathway Nikita had
while everyone else arrives at the main room. No one in sight.
Nikita: They were here. They were
right here.
The operatives look around the room until Nikita sees the computer
screen. The red dots move closer together as a clock counts it
down.
Nikita: Birkoff, we've got a
problem. We got 48 seconds before something happens. What do I do?
Birkoff looks at the same screen that Nikita sees.
Birkoff: All right. Looks like
converging trajectories on a timer.
Nikita finds something.
Nikita: I see a power
switch. Should I turn it off?
Birkoff: No! The program's already
been sent. We have to correct it online.
A man drops in on a rope and starts shooting at them. Others
follow.
Birkoff: What's going on in
there?
Nikita: Nothing! Now, come on,
Birkoff. We've got 30 seconds.
Birkoff: Sit at the main
keyboard. (Nikita obeys, dodging bullets.) Type exactly what I
tell you. (The gunfire continues from all directions.) PS dash
E. (The screen gives off some information.) All right. That's
got to be it. It's the only process I don't recognize. Type this in;
Kill, space, minus-nine, space, 313. Okay? You got that? That should
do it.
One of the bad guys finally go down while Nikita watches the screen.
Nikita: Nothing's happening.
Birkoff: Just wait.
Nikita: Birkoff, 18 seconds!
Birkoff: It'll work. It just has
to filter through.
It continues to countdown as the planes get closer to each other.
Nikita: Birkoff... Birkoff!
The screen finally says "Process 313 terminated."
Nikita: (sighs) Oh God.
Birkoff puts his glasses back on.
Down below, Michael finds Simone's cell. Inside, Simone is sitting on
the lone mattress.
Michael: Simone?
She doesn't answer. Michael takes out a hand gun and shoots the lock,
opening the door. Simone stands up and shields herself with her hands.
Michael takes off his ski mask.
Michael: It's me, Simone. (He
walks slowly toward her.) Don't you remember me? You're okay
now. You're safe now.
Simone cries softly, slowly lowering herself to the floor. Michael
takes her arm.
Michael: You're safe now. (He
holds her, whispering) It's okay. You're safe. It's okay. It's
okay...
Nikita runs in, stops when she sees them, turns around, takes off her
hat, and slowly turns around to look at them again.
Michael: (whispers) I
thought... I would have never stopped looking for you... never stopped
loving you.
Simone looks up at Nikita. Nikita sees her, then hears a noise behind
her, turns around, and shoots the man coming at her. Simone jumps up
from Michael's embrace and Michael instantly stands up and points his
gun in that direction. He turns to Simone.
Michael: We've got to get out of
here. (She cringes away.) Come back to me, Simone. Come back to
me, Simone. Come back...
Nikita: I can't find Sparks.
Simone looks up at Michael while he continues to console her.
Simone: I know where he is.
Michael: Ok, let's go.
Michael helps her walk while Nikita follows. They stop at a set of
stairs. She points up.
Simone: He's in Unit B.
Michael helps her hide underneath the stairs.
Michael: Don't move. You stay
here. Okay. (He looks at Nikita with tearful eyes.) Unit
B. He's mine. Don't move...
Nikita goes up the stairs while Michael gives Simone a little kiss
before following. They go in a room that looks like it's for
storage. They search through it, pointing their guns in every
direction, until they hear someone yelling. Michael runs for the
door.
Michael: Simone!
He runs down the stairs they just went up. He looks for Simone in her
hiding place but she's gone. He screams her name again. They hear,
Sparks: Go on. Go ahead and do
it.
They take off in that direction. They come to the computer room and
hear,
Sparks:
Simone... Hester... Simone...
Michael goes to the door on the opposite side of the room with a small
window. Michael looks through the window and points his gun through
it. Sparks is tied up and Simone holds him at gun point. Michael puts
down the gun.
Michael: Simone...
She looks at him.
Simone: Go. Get out of
here.
Sparks: (yells) Take her
out, man. She's crazy!
Simone hits him across the face his face with the gun and starts
turning switches.
Simone: It's too late,
Michael. I'm already dead. After all these years, you've kept me
here. We're going to go together, Sparks.
White smoke fills the room.
Michael: No, Simone!
Simone: I'm sorry, Michael.
Michael: Simone, please don't do
that!
Simone: It's the only way it can
be.
She opens a metal cabinet.
Michael: Please, Simone!
Don't!
She pulls a final switch.
Simone: I love you, Michael.
Sparks starts yelling.
Voice over the speakers: The
building will destruct in 30 seconds. This is not a drill. Please
evacuate.
Michael yells and tries to open the door, but he can no longer see
Simone through the white smoke. He takes out his gun.
Nikita: (yells)
Michael!
He fires anyway.
Voice over the speakers: 29, 28,
27, 26...
The door still won't open.
Michael: Simone!
Voice over the speakers: 25, 24,
23, 22, 21, 20...
Nikita: (yells) There's
nothing you can do! Michael! The others, Michael...
He takes out his radio.
Michael: Evacuate now.
Voice over the speakers: 19, 18,
17, 16, 15, 14...
Nikita pulls him away from the door. They run through the mess of
stairs and passageways to the exit while the computer counts
down.
Voice over the speakers: 12, 11,
10, 9, 8,
They join the other operatives in the last stretch.
Voice over the speakers: 7, 6, 5,
4, 3, 2, 1
They make it outside just as the explosion happens, sending gray smoke
and debris out the exit and the operatives to the ground. When the
rumbling stops, the operatives get up and run for it, but Michael
stays on the ground, staring at the smoke in disbelief. Nikita stays
with him for a few moments, but then gets up.
MUNITIONS
Nikita checks her weapons in with Walter.
Walter: When he thought she died
three years ago, he just shut himself right off. He didn't talk to
anyone until... until you came along, sugar. Let's hope it's not so
bad this time.
Walter walks away.
Nikita: Thanks, Walter.
He half blows her a kiss and keeps going back to his area. Nikita gets
her stuff together and is leaving when Michael stops her.
Michael: Nikita.
He starts walking toward her. Nikita glances in one direction and
walks toward him.
Michael: I wanted to thank
you.
Nikita: I'm so sorry.
Michael: If it wasn't for the
Section, none of us would have a life. What right do I have to feel
cheated?
Nikita: You have a right to feel
anyway you want. (Nikita thinks of leaving but stops.) Do you
want to have a cup of coffee?
Michael: (whispers) I'd
love to.
Nikita: (smiles) Good.
She leaves and Michael follows.
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
Nikita and Carla listen to some music. Nikita sits down.
Carla: Why can't you tell me what
happens when the phone rings?
Nikita looks at her necklace.
Nikita: That's pretty.
Carla gives her a look.
Nikita: I... I have to... I've
made some promises to keep some things... certain things,
um... confidential.
Carla: So do you always deep your
promises? (smiles)
Nikita smiles back.
Nikita: I try to.
Carla: I like this song.
The song finishes out the scene.
