Spec Ops Transcript

TEASER

Nikita is in a white room. You can tell she is bored out of her mind. She is exercising, and throwing her pillow around.
Operations, Maddy, Michael are watching her via video camera.
Michael: I will set up a program.
Operations: No
Michael: She's ready
Operations: Yes, but we decided to let Jurgen handle it.
Michael: Why?
Madeline: You are the one who brought her out. You are too close to the situation. We need complete objectivity.
Jurgen walks in.
Operations: Jurgen, you are familiar with the history of an agent named Nikita.
Jurgen: I just read the file.
Madeline: We want a complete evaluation, physical, psychological, and emotional.
Jurgen: She's mine?
Madeline: You own her.
Operations: Find the truth. You have one week.
Jurgen: Good to see you Michael. (He and Michael stare at each, you can tell the two men have past history together)

NIKITA'S ROOM

Nikita: Michael, I was wondering when you would com to see me? (she is smiling and all hopeful)
Michael: You were in observation. I wasn't permitted.
Nikita: Does that mean I'm out now?
Michael at this point places something on the wall with the video camera. The camera stops working.
Michael: we have 2 minutes. Do you know a man named Jurgen?
Nikita: I heard of him, special ops.
Michael: You will be spending some time with him.
Nikita: Is that bad?
Michael: Yes, Operations is not convinced you are telling the truth. Jurgen has been assigned to find out for sure.
Nikita: Well, I won't let him.
Michael: It's not that easy. Supposedly you been tortured for 6 months. Progress too slowly, you will seem damaged. Too quickly and they'll be suspicious.
Nikita: I can handle him. But when will we be able to see each other?
Michael: I don't know, just be careful.

BRIEFING

Kudrin was part of Free League, he somehow survived the blast. Sect 1 wants to bring him in for questioning. Ops orders Michael to go and put together a team. Michael who is obviously shocked at the news, did hear the order. Ops says it again. Michael snaps out of it and says "Of course."

Nikita is talking to Walter. She asks about Jurgen.
Walter: I seen him help people, I seen destroy people.
Walter than tells Nikita about the mission.

Nikita is waiting for Michael before he leaves for the mission.
Nikita: Michael, is it true someone has survived the assault?
Michael: A man named Kudrin. Did you hear about him when you were with the League?
Nikita: No, but he might know I was only there for 2 days instead of 6 months.
Michael: Right.
Nikita: If he's captured and questioned by Madeline . . .
Michael: I will take care of it. Just make sure you handle Jurgen.

HONG KONG, CHINA

Michael is in an alley of some sort, he is on the search for Kudrin. Kudrin sees Michael and starts to run. Michael chases him, before shooting him.
The other operatives catches up with Michael.
operative: We were suppose to take him alive.
Michael: I had no choice.
operative: Tell that to Ops.
The operative checks Kudrin's pulse. "This must be your lucky day."
Michael: What do you mean?
operative: He's not dead. Maybe he'll pull through.
Michael: Maybe . . .

TRAINING ROOM

Nikita is standing outside the room.
Jurgen: It's open.
Nikita walks in. Jurgen is sitting beside a table with some sort of game on it.
Jurgen: Do you know what this is?
Nikita: No.
Jurgen: Do you play?
Nikita: No.
Jurgen: You should. You would be surprise what it can teach you.
Nikita: I am not much for games.
Jurgen: Why are you here?
Nikita: They sent me.
Jurgen: Why are you here?
Nikita: To increase my proficiency.
Jurgen: Why are you here?
Nikita: To become a better operative.
Jurgen: I thought you didn't like playing games.
Nikita: I'm here cause I don't want to die.
Jurgen: Good. You just might live if you obey one simple rule. Don't tell me anymore lies.
Nikita: The truth, the whole truth, nothing but.
Jurgen: That's right.
Nikita: I am not sure that' possible in he section.
Jurgen: You don't need to worry about the section you need to worry about me.
Nikita sits down.
Nikita:Shall we being the session?
Jurgen: We just finished. I will see you tomorrow.

MEDLAB

Madeline tells Kudrin that he is going to live, that's the bad news, there is no good news. He has been pumped with highly additive pain killers. When he's ready to tell Maddy the location of the remaining members of Free League, just push the button next to his hand.

TRAINING ROOM

Nikita is running on a treadmill.
Jurgen: hostile action.
Images start to appear, and Nikita has to shoot them.
Jurgen: 120
Nikita starts to run again.
Jurgen: That's enough.
Nikita gets off the treadmill. Two operatives appear out of nowhere and attacks her. She is doing pretty well, until one of them gets her into a choke hold. (she obviously doesn't want to do TOO well, or it will look suspicious.)
Jurgen: In your report it said they used neuro-shock.
Nikita: Yes, that's right.
Jurgen: Damages to nerve tissue sometimes is permanent.
Nikita: Meaning what?
Jurgen: You may have already reached your maximum performance level.
Nikita: That's not good enough.
Jurgen: No.
Nikita: Than I'm going to have to try to be better.
Jurgen: Michael's report didn't mention neuro-shock.
Nikita: Well he wasn't there, I was.
Jurgen: He did the initial briefing.
Nikita: Look, I was in pretty bad shape then. I made a finer report later.
I don't think Jurgen believed her.

SOME WHERE IN SECTION

Nikita: He found some differences between your report and mine.
Michael: That's deliberate.
Nikita then asks about Kudrin. Michael informs her that they are questioning him now.
Nikita: So what are we going to do. You and I. Something happened between us, we can't keep on pretending it didn't happen.
Michael: This isn't the right time.
Nikita: We may never have another time. We can kiss, we can touch. There is nothing stopping us.
Michael: They will see it in our eyes, and it won't be long before they figure out the truth.
Nikita: They'll cancel us.
Michael: Yes
Nikita: I'm willing to die. As long a it means if I can live, really live for 1 day.
Michael: Nikita wait.
Nikita: Until when?
Michael: Until you finish rehab.
Nikita: And after that there will be another excuse.
Michael: I don't know. I just know right now it's too risky.
Nikita: I cam back for YOU. For use to be together.
Michael: That's going to be difficult now. We'll have to be careful.
Nikita: I am tired of being careful.
Michael: Get over it.
Nikita is really angry at him. "Get OVER it??!!" She walks away.

Maddy has find the location of a safe house of the League from Kudrin. Michael leaves with the team for Munich. His job is to find the computer and retrieve all the files.
Michael shoots the computer on purpose.

OPERATIONS' OFFICE

Operations: Every mark was a hit. The computer was yours, what happened?
Michael: By the time I have secured the room, they have destroyed the computer.
Operations: What's going on?
Michael: Nothing.
Operations: When Nikita was missing you had a rough time. Now she's back, you are having another. You of all people should know the dangers of emotional involvement with colleagues. Is there something you want to tell me, Michael?
Michael: No.

TRAINING ROOM

Jurgen asks Nikita why she resisted to torture. Nikita replies it is because of her loyalty to Section.
Jurgen: I told you before, if you want to live, don't lie to me.

Michael is trying to convince Madeline to kill Kudrin so he wouldn't reveal that Nikita was not a prisoner of FL.
Jurgen: (interrupts) "Ask Kudrin about Nikita."
Michael: What about her?
Jurgen: He may had been in the camp when she was tortured, so he can tell use exactly what they did to her.
Madeline: Is that important?
Jurgen: Yes, there is something she is not telling me.
Madeline: She's probably repressing the worst of it.
Jurgen: It's not repression.
Madeline: Deception?
Jurgen: Anything Kudrin tells us will be useful. Unless Michael objects.
Michael: No, it's a good idea.
Madeline: Then it is settled.
Madeline leaves. Michael and Jurgen stare at each other. (Past feelings??)

MEDLAB
Kudrin denies all knowledge of Nikita.

MADELINE'S OFFICE

Operations: So?
Madeline: I come to know Mr.Kudrin rather well lately. There is a good chance he's telling the truth.
Operations: Perhaps Nikita was a prisoner, he wasn't aware of it.
Madeline: Perhaps.
Operations: Jurgen's evaluation of Nikita?
Madeline: That she is hiding something.
Operations: She wasn't prisoner of FL, than she's been outside of Sect 1 for six months. FREE.
Madeline: Yes.
Operations: And so why did she come back. (oh, come on, this is pretty obvious)
Madeline: I don't know. But it raises another possibility.
Operations: And what is that?
Madeline: That Michael knew the truth. And he lied to protect her. A bond between two agents isn't always such a bad thing. (Forshadowing??)
Operations: This level of betrayal is unacceptable.
Madeline: Yes.
Operations: Get to the bottom of it, and we'll do what we have to do.
Operations starts to leave, he turns around.
Operations: Are you happy with your new office?
Madeline: Very. (smiling)
Operations: I'm glad.
Madeline: Thank you.
I am telling you, there is something between Ops and Maddy.

Jurgen tells Nikita that her reflexes are 90% is working order, her coordination is 75%. Nikita tells him that it is because she is still out of synch. Before she leaves, Jurgen stops her. "There is just one thing." Nikita turns around, Jurgen hits her is the face. Nikita fight back with complete coordination.
Jurgen: You don't seem to be out of synch now?? (He knows the truth)

Nikita is waiting for Michael at a deserted part of Section.
Nikita: He knows I wasn't a prisoner.
Michael: How?
Nikita: He just does.
Michael: Does he know about us?
Nikita: I don't know.
Michael: I am under suspicion, too. I destroyed a FL computer. I was afraid it might contain data about their prisoners.
Nikita: I wouldn't be in it.
Michael: You ask me once what to do, and I said wait. I have a different answer now. Get away from here. Be free again.
Nikita: Do you mean it?
Michael: I mean it. I have a plan. It's not perfect, but it should give you a two day start, maybe more.
Nikita: What about you?
Michael: I'll be left hehind.
Nikita: And if the truth comes out when I'm gone?
Michael: I'll take the chance.
Nikita: You will do anything. Can't you? Except being with me? Michael, you can go to hell. I ran once, and it didn't work, I am not running again.
Nikita starts to leave.
Michael: There is another way. It won't be easy. It requires something from both of us. I will get Kudrin to lie to say you were a prisoner.
Nikita: How?
Michael: That's my problem. Your problem is to take care of Jurgen.
Nikita: By doing what?
Michael: WHATEVER it takes. (He wanted Nikita to sleep with Jurgen, so Jurgen would lie.)

TRAINING ROOM

Nikita tells Jurgen to give her his best shot. When the camera turns, you see Nikita is hiding a knife behind her.
Jurgen: What did you do during the six months.
Nikita: What do you mean.
Jurgen: It was wrong, right from the beginning. You were repressing something. But not a memory, more . . . like a secret.
Nikita: You are wrong.
Jurgen: Am I? I don't think so. I think I got it right. You see, I know why you are here. Tell me why you came back? It was Michael, wasn't it? He has you under his thumb, just like all the rest. What? You think you are the first?? Manipulating beautiful women is his specialty. You heard of Simone.
Nikita: He loves Simone.
Jurgen: He's never loved anyone, not even himself. (I think this holds some truth to it. I think Michael is disgusted with his life in Section One, and what he does for a living.)
Nikita pulls out her knife.
Jurgen: He is dead inside. He's made you dead. You came to kill me cause he sent you. If he told you to have sex with me, you would have, too. You are his slave. Section will know it wasn't an accident.
Nikita: I don't care.
Jurgen: Either do I. Cause death doesn't matter if you truly lived.
Nikita pulls her knife away, and crumples to the floor.
Jurgen: Congrads, you are alive again. As far as I'm concerned, our sessions are over.

Michael: Is it over?
Nikita: Yes. He's no danger to us.
Michael: You just signed our death warrant.

OPERATIONS' OFFICE

Jurgen lied to Operations about Nikita. Operations and Madeline think that Nikita was hiding the fact she went through force hypnotic regression. Which is when they make you into a little girl again, and built you up. The last remnants of Freedom League has been destroyed. Nikita is to work with Jurgen on missions before she returns to active status.

Nikita is with Jurgen.
Nikita: Force hypnotic regression, does it even exist?
Jurgen: It exists. It can destroy your emotional structure in a matter of days.
Nikita: Any residual affects?
Jurgen: Report some nightmares just to keep it convincing. In 2, 3 weeks, come up to full proficiency. You will be in the clear.
Jurgen starts to walk away. Nikita stops him.
Nikita:Jurgen, thanx.
Jurgen smiles, and winks at her.
Nikita walks around the corner, and there he is. Michael, standing there, he has heard the whole conversation.
Nikita: You still don't trust him?
Michael: Why should he protect us?
Nikita: I don't know, but he just did.
Michael: You been in the section for long enough. You should know better.
Nikita: If he's going to betray us, he would have done it by now.
Michael: Betrayal get him nothing. But he has power over us. Because he knows the truth, and one day he'll use that power.
Nikita: For what?
Michael: We'll find out soon enough.
Nikita: Ah, I don't think so Michael. He's different.
Michael: Different from what?
Nikita: Different from you!
