TEASER - OBSERVATION DECK
Operations: Hello Nikita, you 6
months numbers just came in.
Nikita: What are they?
Operations: Evaluations. They tell
us how effective you have been on live missions. I have been following
your progress since your return to full status.
Nikita: How am I doing?
Operations: How do you think you
are doing?
Nikita: I get the job done more
quickly then most, but I do have a more unorthodox approach. Something
which is frowned by the section.
Operations: Not by the section, by
me. If you were me, what would you recommend I do about that?
Nikita: I give me some time off,
say . . . the next 40 years?
Operations: (smile) That may not
be possible. Officially, I will not take action against you.
Nikita: Unofficially?
Operations: I'm going to ask
Michael to keep a tighter rein on you. Watch for weaknesses, see if we
can help you eliminate them.
Nikita: Eliminate them . . .
Operations: That will be for
all.
LOADING DOCK
Nikita and Terry are returning from a mission with a hostage, face
covered by a mask.
Nikita: Could have gone a lot
worse.
Terry: Yeah, I hate being first
team on a hot op.
They bring the hostage in front of Michael who removes his mask.
Hostage: You can't keep me here, I
got people.
Michael: Take him to
containment.
Nikita and Terry leave with the hostage.
Terry: So, what do you do in your
downtime?
Nikita: Nothing special,
live.
Terry: Wanna get a bite to
eat?
Nikita: Yeah.
The hostage attempts to escape. Nikita and Terry dispatch him with no
problem.
Nikita: (on the com.) Medical, we
have a hostile down in the van access.
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
Nikita: I'm glad you came. It's
not very often I get to hang out with another operative.
Terry: What about Michael? Don't
you guys hang out?
Nikita: Not really.
Terry: But there is a
closeness.
Nikita: Yeah, there is a
closeness.
Terry: I've been there.
Nikita: Who with?
Terry: Just another op. It was
before you got here.
Nikita: So what happened?
Terry: He was grabbed during a
raid. They were willing to trade him for one of theirs, but Operations
said no, so they killed him. God, it's only been four years. It seems
like a life time.
Nikita: Do you have a boyfriend
now?
Terry: Well, I wouldn't exactly
call him a boyfriend. But he's okay.
Nikita: Is he inside or outside?
Terry: Always best to make friends
outside the section.
Nikita: Not always.
They toast each other with their wine glasses.
BRIEFING
Operations: We've got two hostages
on the third floor above a night club. Birkoff has a full A&E of the
buildings in the surrounding area. We run a round 9 o'clock door to
door.
Birkoff: I've downloaded the A &
Es on your panels.
Michael: What's the relative value
of hostage versus target?
Operations: We're dealing with a
rogue NSA (National Security Agency) agent. Sullivan Bates. A former
field agent who worked his way up to regional strategist. Middle hand
list. He has 9 years of sensitive intel. He wants to sell it.
Michael: What happened?
Operations: The NSA found out
about it and was converging when things got out of hand. Now they want
us to clean up. Get on it.
Downstairs Nikita runs into Walter.
Nikita: Hey Walter.
Walter: Hey sugar. (absently)
Nikita: What you got? (Referring
to the box he's holding.)
Walter: Nothing.
Nikita: Walter.
Walter: What?
Nikita: What's wrong?
Walter: What do you mean?
Nikita: Well, I haven't seen you
in over a week. I usually get a little more from you.
Walter: What do you want a floor
show every time we meet?!
SYSTEMS - aka control room, aka, room with
lots of computers.
Nikita walks in to see Terry talking to Michael. She overhears Terry
plea to Michael.
Terry: I've never asked you for
anything Michael. Why can't you do this for me?!
Michael looks away from Terry and at Nikita. Terry gets the message
and stops.
Michael: Birkoff and I will
coordinate from here. You'll be entering the building on the
north-east side, work your way through the club. On the south east
corner you'll find a stairwell. Go there and stand by.
Michael and Terry exchange a loaded look. Nikita is puzzled and
embarrassed.
MISSION - Night Club
Terry and Nikita in the club. Nikita is wearing a black hat and Terry
a high ponytail. They pass through the club to the stairs.
Bates: I don't understand you. All
you have to do is talk to me, I'll cut you down, you can walk out of
here.
Nikita: We're in position,
Birkoff, do you have us?
Birkoff: Yeah. Be careful crossing
the room, Bates has security all over the floor.
Bates: All right, this is the last
time I'm going to ask. Look at me. Look at me. The thing is, I know
someone from your department has been tracking me. Do you have
anything to tell me? Anything?
Birkoff: There's one guy headed
right towards you, Terry.
Terry knocks him off.
Birkoff: There's another one right
behind him.
Terry gets rid of the other one too.
Birkoff: The stairs are
clean. It's the first room at the top.
Terry and Nikita go upstairs.
Bates: (to a subordinate) Kill
them. Get it on tape.
Nikita plants some charges on the door.
Nikita: Got the door, Birkoff?
Birkoff: Yeah.
Michael: There's a gun on each
hostage. We'll need two on the interior. Terry and Snow.
Terry: What's the position?
Michael: Through the door on the
left.
Terry: They're about to shoot a
hostage. Get off this channel and go.
Nikita: Let's go. (Terry
hesitates) What's the matter, Terry? What's wrong?
Terry: I can't do it. I can't go
in there.
Michael: Nikita, get to your point
so they can go in. Nikita, now.
Terry has a pleading look on her face.
Nikita: Michael, I'm gonna take
Terry's place.
Michael: Why?
Nikita: She twisted her ankle on
the stairwell. She's not mobile enough.
Michael: All right, Nikita,
go. Tyler will cover egress. Terry, get back to transport.
Nikita holds Terry by the shoulder and kicks her ankle with her foot
to make it look like it was twisted. Then she burst into the
room. Bates escapes.
Nikita: Michael, he went through
the window, he's back in the club.
Michael: Team 2, tighten the
perimeter. What about the hostages?
Nikita: Both dead.
Michael: Status of target?
Birkoff: Out of range.
The mission was total a failure. The teams gets in through the van
access, an operative helping Terry.
Michael: Are you all right?
Terry: Yes. It was a stupid thing,
I'm sorry, Michael.
Michael: Snow, take her down to
medical. Nikita, after you check in I want to see you in my
office.
THE PERCH
Operations: What happened?
Michael: We had a drop out after
the clock started.
Operations: Who?
Michael: Terry. She sprained her
ankle coming upstairs.
Operations: We were only one layer
thin?
Michael: Yes.
Operations: And Bates?
Michael: We didn't get him.
Operations: Maybe I should call
NSA back and tell them we are as incompetent as they are. Find
Bates!
MICHAEL'S OFFICE
Michael: Sit down. Terry sprained
her ankle.
Nikita: Yes, that's right.
Michael: Why didn't she report?
Nikita: I don't know, maybe she
thought she could shake it off.
Michael: Did you see it?
Nikita: Not at first. Why am I on
trial? Why don't you ask her?
Michael: I will. Right now I'm
asking you. You and Terry has recently become friends, is that right?
Nikita: What is that suppose to
mean?
Michael: Terry is a veteran
operative, one of our best. To date she's never had an anomaly.
Nikita: Good . . . for her.
Michael and Nikita have this staring contest.
Nikita: We done?
Michael: Yes.
Nikita: Ok. See ya.
MED LAB
Nikita: Hi.
Terry: Hey.
Nikita: How does it feel?
Terry: It's fine, just a little
swollen.
Nikita comes real close so that they don't hear what they say.
Nikita: You did not want to go out
on our mission today.
Terry: I don't wanna go out on any
of them.
Nikita: What's going on,
Terry?
Terry: I owe you a thanks, not an
explanation.
Nikita: Terry.
Terry breaks into tears and hugs Nikita.
Terry: I'm pregnant.
TERRY'S APARTMENT BALCONY
Nikita: So who's the father?
Terry: It's just some guy I see
once no while. It's nothing serious.
Nikita: Does he know?
Terry: What would be the point?
It's not like we are going to get married and raise a family.
Nikita: So what happens now? What
are you going to do?
Terry: I don't know.
Nikita: Well, this can't be the
first time anyone's got pregnant in the section.
Terry: No, no, it's not. You know
Caroline? Red head, works in com.? About 5 years ago, she had a
baby. Came back to work, never talked about it, acted as if nothing
happened.
Nikita: What about the baby?
Terry: Nobody knows.
Nikita: Maybe they just found them
a good home.
Terry: Maybe . . . maybe something
else. All I know is that there is no day care centre down there.
Nikita: This is not a secret you
can plan to keep for long.
BRIEFING
Operations: Bates lost his
hostages but our source informed us that he has other deals in place
with his buyers.
Michael: What's Bates selling?
Operations: Identities and
locations of undercover NSA agents. They are involved in something
called the Blipton project. They'll mark down his price, the course of
having to take the agents down themselves. Birkoff…
Birkoff: Bates turned to form a
partnership with a handful of independent brokers. They make his
deals. One of the brokers is ours. Mick Stoppel. Was brought in last
year when we took out Ilia Banko. We forged the relationship and put
him back out. He gets us to Bates.
Michael: Good.
WALTER'S WEAPON ARSENAL
Walter shows Michael a cigarette.
Walter: Smoke this up to
here. You'll be able to smell it, when the fuses lit, you got 30
seconds to get rid of it.
Michael: And the charge?
Walter: Contained but
significant.
Michael: Enough to set off an
alarm?
Walter: Yeah. It will work! Like I
told you, ok?!
Walter is obviously in a bad mood.
Michael sees Nikita as he comes out of Walter's office.
Michael: Did you review the
profile?
Nikita: I haven't completed the
final, I was just on my way to systems to do that now.
Michael: What about Terry?
Nikita: She's getting dressed.
Michael: And her ankle?
Nikita: It's gonna be fine. Is
that all?
Michael: Can I see you over there?
They move to a more secluded corner.
Nikita: What's wrong?
Michael: I know Terry, she didn't
just sprained her ankle. What is she hiding?
Nikita: Nothing that I know
of. What she talked to you about?
Michael: When?
Nikita: In Systems, before last
night's mission. She seemed pretty upset.
Michael: She was, but she didn't
wanna tell me why. I thought you might know.
Nikita: No.
Michael: If something's going on
with her that might compromise her performance, you need to tell
me.
Nikita: I do you want me to tell
you, Michael, I don't know what's going on. If you doubt Terry, then
just pull her off the mission.
Michael: If I pull her off she'll
undergo a complete reevaluation. I'm asking you to tell me, do I need
to do that?
Nikita: I don't think that's
necessary, no.
Michael, Nikita, Terry and Schtoppel arrive at a party in a big
limo.
Mick: You are joking with this
outfit.
Terry: What's wrong with it?
Mick: Well, we're not going to a
Section One disco party. These people are sophisticated, it's gonna
reflect badly on me.
Terry: Is that sophisticated as in
terrorist drawn to act like a murderer?
Mick looks down Terry's blouse and she pushes him away.
Nikita: Knock it off, Schtoppel.
Mick: What did I say? What did I
say?
Michael: Let's go through it one
more time.
Mick: What do you want, team
leader?
Michael: Once we settle in I'll
give you a signal. The decoy is set, you make a move to the
computer.
Mick nods.
Mick: That's what I need to sign
the drug. It is so new, it doesn't even have a name yet. (to Terry)
You want some? (Terry looks away disgusted.)
Mick: Look, the people you need to
meet at the party, if you're not, they're not gonna believe what we're
doing in the first place.
Nikita: Don't worry, Schtoppel,
we'll be real party animals.
Mick: All right, yeah baby.
At the party, a girl swims out of a pool, people are dancing, smoking,
and drinking everywhere. Terry dances with Nikita, then some
guy. Nikita notices Michael looking at her as she dances.
Birkoff: Michael, start the
sequence.
Mick: (to someone) Turns up, he
was here to sign earlier, this is Michael right here, he's in a kind
of condom, very interesting.
Terry: Excuse me.
Mick: I'm gonna miss you
baby. (kisses her)
Nikita notices Terry going towards the office.
Nikita: (to someone behind her)
Can you just wait for one minute for me and join the other? (kisses
the two people she's dancing with) Be right back.
Michael is smoking his special cigarette and looks amused with
Nikita's behavior.
Terry talks to a guard.
Terry: Is there a bathroom back
here?
Guard: The second door.
Nikita comes after her in a hurry. The guard stops her.
Guard: Wow, wow.
Nikita: Excuse me, do you know
where I can powder my nose?
Guard: In a minute, someone's in
there.
Nikita: Can I just wait right here
with you?
Guard: Sure.
Nikita: Fun party.
Guard: Uhuh.
Terry gets in the office.
Terry: I'm in, Birkoff.
Birkoff: Pull all the files with
the .jv extension.
Mick: ... there's no sign you
know, the blow, seems to me the same thing. You can say that one more
time it will kick your ass. I said, what choice did I have? You can
looked him straight in the face, I said, I will kick your addy.
Meanwhile Michael has smoked enough of the cigarette and throws it
into a the pot of a big plant.
Nikita: (flirty) I mean, I did a
lot of things when I was in uh, Spain but commercials, that's what I
really wanna do. Have you been to Barcelona?
The cigarette sets the plant on fire.
Birkoff: All right, you have about
20 seconds. Going up.
Terry comes out of the office.
Terry: It's all in there. I'm not
going back.
Nikita: What are you saying?
Terry: Look, I know they'll get to
me eventually, but if I stay hidden long enough to have this baby and
make sure it's safe. After that I don't care.
Nikita: Terry!
Nikita tries to hold her hand but Terry breaks off and leaves. Michael
comes to her.
Michael: Do you have it?
Nikita: Yeah.
Michael: Where's Terry?
Nikita: She's in the bathroom.
Michael: What's she doing in
there?
Nikita: She had to go.
Michael: What's going on?
Nikita: Nothing.
Michael doesn't not believe her for a second. He knocks on the
bathroom door.
Michael: Terry?
No answer. He kicks the door open, the bathroom in empty, the windows
are open. Michael grabs Nikita's arm.
Michael: Let's go.
LIMOUSINE
Nikita: Michael, please don't call
it in. You know what they will do to her. She run because she's
scared.
Michael: Of what?
Nikita: She's having a baby.
Schtoppel: Well, do not look at
me. I just met the bird.
Nikita: SHUT UP Mick! Michael,
please, she made a mistake, let's just bring her back in. She's a good
operative, we can talk to her, please!
Michael uses his cell phone to call section one.
Michael: Birkoff, give me a 2 km
info red on the house. Schtoppel made a run for it.
Schtoppel: Good one.
Michael: (to the driver) Turn left
here.
Nikita: There she is.
Michael: Stop.
Terry sees the limo stopping, she starts to run. Michael quickly
catches up with her.
Terry: Let me go, Michael. Let me
go. Let me go, lease.
Michael: Where are going to go?
Terry: You don't understand.
Michael: Nikita told me.
Terry follows Michael into the limo.
Nikita: Terry, I am sorry. I had
to tell him. I had no choice.
Terry: Does Operations know?
Michael: No.
Schtoppel: We got to inform
Section One.
Michael: Shut up.
Schtoppel: The security
implications alone are staggering.
The camera switches. You see the limo stopping, the door on Michael's
side being opened, and Michael throwing Schtoppel out of the
limo. (woo, Michael getting angry)
LOADING DOCK
Terry: Do you want me to
debrief?
Michael: No. (to Nikita) Give the
disk to Birkoff.
When Nikita leaves, he turns to Terry.
Michael: You do what you have to
do. It's your move.
Michael then leaves to catch up with Nikita.
Michael: Nikita, so you lied to me
from beginning.
Nikita: Don't make this about
loyalty to the section, Michael. Because it's not about that.
Michael: You withheld info from
me.
Nikita: Yes, I did. And until
someone can convince me that that baby is gong to be safe, I am going
to tell as many lies as I have to to protect it.
Michael: It's not doing anybody's
good to do Terry's bidding. Especially not now.
Nikita: Michael, please. You think
I am going to be on my best behavior so you can give Operations a
glowing report? You are a little off on how much I value my own
life. Especially if I have to live it here.
You know something really ironic? Michael doesn't care about losing
his own life, but he cares about Nikita's. Nikita doesn't care about
losing *her* life, but she cares about Michael's. Ahh . . . love.
WALTER'S WEAPON ARSENAL
Nikita: Hey, Walter. Do you know
where Birkoff is?
Walter: How the hell should I
know?
Nikita: What's the matter? Have I
done something to upset you?
Walter accidentally stabs his finger with one the tools.
Walter: Damn! ( He walks to the
com. unit on the wall.) Could someone sent up some three-strand? I
only asked for it twice! (turns around and notices Nikita) Um, Birkoff
is probably in systems.
Nikita leaves Walter's office. As she enters the main Section One
area, she notices Michael talking to Operations on the Observation
Deck.
SYSTEMS
Nikita hands Birkoff the disk.
Nikita: Here you go.
Birkoff: Thank you.
Nikita: Do you know what's wrong
with Walter?
Birkoff: Three years coming up
tomorrow.
Nikita: What's that?
Birkoff: It's a review.
Nikita: I never heard about that
before.
Birkoff: It's not for field ops,
it's for the older ops.
Nikita: What if he doesn't pass?
Birkoff: Then he's done.
Nikita: What do you mean? He's
cancelled?
Birkoff: No, they'll retire
him.
Nikita: What's wrong with that?
Birkoff: It's not exactly the
condo in Palm Springs kind of retirement. (Didn't think so.)
Nikita: What kind is it?
Birkoff: They don't tell us. I
just heard rumors. Something about level-8. It's all I know.
Nikita opens Michael's office door.
Nikita: I am heading out, anything
else you need?
Michael: No.
Instead of leaving, Nikita closes the door to Michael's
office. Getting the hint, Michael opens a desk drawer that contains a
little keyboard like device, and punches in a bunch of keys. (I think
the device is used to cancel out any surveillance devices in Michael's
office.)
Nikita: So did you tell Operations
about Terry?
Michael: No.
Nikita: So what happens now?
Michael: She will have to tell him
herself.
Nikita: And if she doesn't? What
happens then? I mean, what did you do when Simone got pregnant?
Michael: She never was.
Nikita: I thought that . . .
Michael: You were mistaken.
Nikita: I'm sorry, I shouldn't
have asked.
It's really not clear if Michael is telling the truth. It could be
that they had fed false intel about Michael to Garsha in the episode
War to break Nikita's resistance more easily. Or he's lying now
because she lied to him and he's closing up again because of that, or
because he thinks it's too intimate to discuss.
BRIEFING
Operations: What we know so far is
this. Bates promised to deliver intel to this organization in form of
two NSA agents. Unfortunately we were unable to intercept that
play.
Birkoff: But what we didn't know
till now the specific information that Red Cell wanted from the NSA
agents. The data we retrieved from the party gave us the answer. Those
agents were privy to government codes.
Operations: Our friend,
Mr. Schtoppel was able to contact Bates. He's meeting Bates tomorrow
at 1500 hours, forfeiting the codes in exchange for 5 million
dollars. We'll take Bates then.
Michael: Where are they
meeting?
Operations: We won't know for a
couple of hours. The mission profile is being finalized. Put together
a team and bring Bates down. Alive, if possible.
Michael: Of course.
Nikita is on her way to see Terry. As she turns around the corner, she
sees Michael coming out of Terry's apartment. She stops and watches as
Michael talks to Terry outside of the apartment. When Michael leaves,
she turns around to leaves as well. The camera switches, showing one
of the mystery *goatee* men (there are two of them, twins). He saw the
whole thing, and he enters something into a little computer like
device.
For those of you who don't know who the mystery *goatee* man is. Ok,
the *goatee* man has been appearing in the last few episodes of LFN at
the weirdest places. In Psychic Pilgrim, he was the man walking past
Nikita and Michael's house with the dog. He is either A. an extra on
the set who has been in way too many scenes. B. he is part of a
mystery that the writers will reveal near the end of the season.
SECTION, VAN ACCESS
The teams prepares to leave for the mission. Nikita stops to talk to
Terry.
Nikita: Terry!
Terry: Hey.
Nikita: What' you doing here?
Terry: I work here. (and you
thought they didn't have a sense of humor)
Nikita: Did Michael allow you to
sit on the mission?
Terry: Yeah. He asked me if I
wanted to get out of it, I said no. I'm getting an abortion.
Nikita: I thought you didn't want
to do that?
Michael arrives.
Terry: Things change.
Walter is doing his 3 year test, he is *really* nervous. Operations
and another woman are sitting behind the glass wall.
Woman: What's the most important
day of the week?
Walter: Most important day for
what?
Woman: Just answer the question,
please.
Walter: It's either Tuesday or
Thursday.
Woman: Choose one.
Walter: Tuesday.
Woman: Which would you prefer to
kill, a cat or a monkey?
Walter: I don't know . . . I guess
. . . I probably say a . . .
Operations is smirking, he is enjoying this. His enjoyment is
interrupted by Birkoff.
Birkoff: Sir?
Operations: What is it?
Woman: (in the background) Do you
agree or disagree?
Birkoff: They just reached the
rendevous point. They think Schtoppel is delivering a rogue NSA agent
with intel.
Operations: Who's going in?
Birkoff: Terry, with Michael posed
as security.
Operations: Keep me posted.
The camera switches, and you see Walter agitating in his chair.
Walter: I don't know, I guess an
eyeball.
MISSION - abandoned building
Michael and Terry come out of the escalator.
Birkoff: Michael, you're clean for
entry.
Schtoppel greets them as the door opens.
Schtoppel: Hello, loves, come
in.
Two guards search for any weapons Michael and Terry is carrying.
Schtoppel: Rich boys, Mr. Bates is
waiting.
Birkoff: Ok, all teams they're in,
start the sequence.
Bates: Good afternoon.
Birkoff: There's six out, two in,
four primaries.
Schtoppel: I'd like you to meet a
remarkable young lady, Mr. Bates. Not only did she led the folk into
the agency, but she worked directly on the Blipton project.
Bates: What about the security
code?
Terry: I don't need the codes, I
wrote the program. You can login as Admin and get whatever you
need.
Schtoppel: Isn't it fantastic?
Michael grabs the guard closest to him, using him as a shield as the
other guard shoot at him. Michael then grabs the gun from the now dead
guard, and shoot the other guard. His gun is now pointed at
Bates.
Terry: That will be enough,
Michael. (Her gun pointed at the back of his head.) If I have to kill
you to save my baby, I'll do it, you know I will.
Birkoff: Team 2 go to north for
egress.
Schtoppel: I am sorry, Michael,
there's been a change in the agenda.
Terry: Didn't have a choice. The
section doesn't care about a new life. What was gonna happen to my
baby?
Michael: What do you think he's
gonna do?
Terry: After the baby's safe, I'll
tell him whatever he wants to know. I'm sure he'll kill me.
Bates: This is all very touching
but it's time to go.
Bates takes Michael's gun and aims it at Michael's chest.
Terry: No! The deal was nobody
dies.
Schtoppel: I know but...
Terry: Then the deal is off.
She points the gun at Bates instead.
Bates changes his mind and shoot Michael in the kneecap.
Bates: Are we all happy now?
Schtoppel: Yeah, sure.
Bates: Then let's go.
Bates, Terry and Schtoppel leave. Nikita stops them midway. She's got
her gun trained on Bates. Terry has the gun on Nikita.
Nikita: You're gonna kill me,
Terry?
Terry: If I have to.
Nikita: Put down the gun,
Bates. Maybe we can make a deal.
Bates: I know all about the deals
Section One makes.
Schtoppel: Don't be such a
sinhead, Bates, I was gonna tell you about...
Nikita: SHUT UP!
Schtoppel: Fine.
Nikita: I don't need you alive,
Bates.
Terry changes her mind and shoots Bates. She probably understands that
she lost.
Schtoppel: Yeah.
Terry: Nikita, it wasn't supposed
to be this way. I was just trying to protect my baby.
Nikita leaves, probably to check on Michael.
SECTION
Walter: (huge grin) Hey, sugar,
how is it going? Is this a gorgeous night or what?
Nikita: Hey, Walter.
Walter: You want to see my new
night scope?
Nikita: Maybe later.
Walter: I will be here.
Nikita: I gather the review went
well?
Walter: They can't touch me. (Eh,
ha.)
MED LAB
Michael is lying on bed, wearing a white tank top. Resting.
Nikita: How's the leg?
Michael: It's all right.
Nikita: So what's gonna happen to
Terry?
Michael: They'll have to wait till
the baby is born..
Nikita: And the baby?
Michael: No one knows.
Nikita: You know, I went to see
Terry this morning. I saw you leaving . . .
Michael: And you think I am the
father.
Nikita: Are you?
Michael: (pause) No.
SECTION - hall
Nikita watches as Terry is lead away by two section operatives.
THE END
