ONCE AGAIN
She stood there silently, watching night turn to the early morning sunrise. It was so quiet, too quiet, she listened for his footsteps, his breathe against her hair but nothing was there, only silence. Faraway the sound of a plane easing it’s way toward the island fortress. Was it him coming back or was it someone else getting ready to spread the same terror as the time before. Quickly she moved from the Terrace toward the children’s bedrooms, opening their doors , stepping inside each of the rooms. “Adam, Mia”, we must be ready to move quickly, take only what you wear and be ready. Eyes opened suddenly, knowing the procedure, knowing exactly what to do. Adam was the first up, going to his sister’s bed. "Quickly Mia, I’ll help you". Seeing her small face and her beautiful blonde hair, his heart went to her, wishing that things were different, her small hands reached out to him and tears were in her eyes. Adam hurried to lead her to the “safe place” the area where Michael and Nikita had shown the children where to go, to hide. As Adam opened the huge stone wall, Mia grasp his hand and they stepped inside. “Where’s mama? Will she be here soon? Adam looked down at Mia, trying to calming his own fears, yes, Mia, she’ll be here in a few minutes. The huge wall shut with the children safely inside.
Suddenly , in the distance they heard gunshots. Almost loud enough to be explosions. Adam held Mia closely as she shivered under his arms.
Time passed, they head nothing else but silence. Adam did not open the door but he knew that Nikita should have been with them some time ago. He waited, nothing. He wasn’t sure if he should go through the door or continue to wait. Eventually he could no longer wait. Slowly he opened the great door, looking out into the area he saw and knew what had happened.
The room into which he entered was normal, nothing but quiet filled it's presence. Adam decided to investigate further knowing that his sister was still secure and safe in their hiding place. He crept onto the terrace, the same place he knew Nikita so often waited for his father on his return. There had been a struggle there, seeing this he looked over the balony edge, down below lay someone, a man, dressed in black. Adam was sure the man was dead as no movement came from him and he was facedown on the cold, hard brick. Who was this person? Adam didn't recognize the figure and was about to return to his and MIa's hiding place when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Turning quickly he found the man behind him was Michael, Adam had grown almost as tall as him and looked him squarely in the eyes. "Adam, your safe!" MY SON, where is your sister? " Adam went to MIchael, into his arms, a feeling of utter relief overcame him. "Mia is safe father, she is well hidden, Nikita had us go to the safe room before the gunfire started. Where is Nikita?"
Michael looked at Adam with sadness in his eyes "Our home was found, Nikita is gone to our a new quarters, we'll be leaving in an hour to arrive at the designated area." Get ready to leave immediately.
When the plane landed there was a large, black van. Michael led the child to the vehicle and they climbed inside. The travel time was long, it seemed like they had been on the road for hours and night had fallen. The van came to a sudden stop, altho the children couldn't see what was going on they could feel the van and as if they were on an elevator going down into the depths of the earth. Michael opened the door to the van, turned and withdrew the children. "This will be you home, Nikita, your mother is here as well, here you will stay, learn and grow. You will be completely safe as long as your here and when we're gone there will alway be someone to be with you, to help you learn and be strong in mind and body. The children looked at Michael trustingly.
A short time later Michael and Nikita looked down from the perch at their children walking by. A tear fell from Nikita's eye as she looked at Michael. "Is this what we wanted for our children?" "No, this is their fate. Another sequence has begun and Section moved forward.
