SAMI`S NEW POINT OF VIEW: June 6 – June 15th 2004
Sunday morning, there I was at Amsterdam airport, ready for my second trip to Canada.
After an 8 hour flight over the “2 ponds” I arrived at O’Hare airport Chicago.
I had to wait 5 hours for my plane to Montreal (huge bummer since I actually FLEW OVER MONTREAL an hour ago)
But 6 pm came pretty fast and I was back on the road to final destination.
Around 9.30 pm I arrived in Montreal, got to my B&B and fell a sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
Monday I had a day to explore Montreal; I decided to find my way to Mount Royal. I had no idea how far it was but just kept walking.
When crossing the road in downtown Montreal, I saw Mr. Roy Dupuis` face on a bus! I wanted to take a picture,
but well the cars wanting to cross my path did not agree, so I kept on walking and just memorized the moment (LOL)
I started at the bottom of the mountain, which was in a small forest.
There I found a nice spot in the sun, where I rested for a while. Afterwards I went around the mountain to find the look-out.
When I got there, I saw the most beautiful view of Montreal. I could see all of it. Then I decided to actually walk up the mountain.
I heard there was a huge cross on top of it, which I wanted to see.
I walked a trail that went through another forest, where I made friends with 3 squirrels.
I wanted to take a picture of one of them, and he stayed posing till I got my camera and took the shot.
Another one walked to me I petted him. Then I continued my way up the mountain and found the cross.
Afterwards I had to find my way back to Montreal which wasn’t as easy as I first thought. But I made it back to my B&B, and yes, I was beat.
I sat and the bed and my legs refused to move any longer for that evening.
On Tuesday I met my fellow Roy companions in B&B close to mine. Of course the topic of discussion was Roy Dupuis.
After a couple hours I went with Barb to the airport to pick up my roomie Brenda. When I got to the airport: no Brenda.
Instead I found Kristen and Ellie, waiting for Lauri.
I had no idea on which plane Brenda would come in, only that it arrived at 3.15
Lauri`s plane arrived same time and yes they got out same time same plane… (Coincidence)
Together with Barb and Eve, we went to our B&B where we found another Roy fan: Carla, standing in the hallway.
We catched up on everything, then the phone rang: more Roy fans (this is getting fun) it were Rena and Anna,
they where in a hotel nearby and we decided to have a Roy evening (not to be taken literally: p) So that evening our balcony was filled,
we had some very interesting discussions on the love slinky and other discussions that shall not be typed. (: p)
Due to our load talking and laughing we had to move from the balcony. Since there was a VCR downstairs
and I had a tape with rescue on it, we figured we’d drool over Mickey.
But the stupid VCR did not work (DAMMIT, probably a male VCR, LOL) So we called it a night.
Next morning we got up early, to get ready for the Rivers Conference, since registration and breakfast was at our B&B,
we only had to walk downstairs. (Much appreciated: p)
When I was downstairs the owner of the B&B was in huge stress…there was no electricity!
(Yes I know, very ironic: no electricity for the Rivers get-together)
After registration and breakfast (it was made at the B&B across the street) we left Montreal on a bus, to go to the Seraphin set.
It was kewl, to see all the locations used in the film. The only bugger during our trip was the flies and mosquitos.
After the Seraphin tour, we stopped in small town to have lunch.
Next we went to the Gauthier River, which was absolutely amazing to see.
I was amazed by the beauty, seeing a “life river” for the first time.
After the River we drove back to Montreal. That evening Brenda and I got together with Ute and Gabi to have dinner.
We found an Italian place, where we converted our waitress into the Roy religion and of course promoted CBTS.com
Thursday morning we got ready for our second day of the Rivers conference. We were in a tent somewhere in Montreal.
At first we saw parts of Michel’s film. Then we had the auction, saw some hot pics of Ives and Roy in MOD.
Around 1 p.m. a group of people that stood outside came running in…: He is here, he is here!!
Yup, there he was, wearing a grey/blue shirt dark colored jeans and boots and no beret. (Good God I love the man with short hair)
Roy this time auctioned of his own SUNGLASSES… Then he went to each table where he stayed for about 45 minutes.
At our table we mostly talked about the Rivers and about the Natives, a topic he seems very interested in.
I gave Roy 2 copies of DVD I made with my clips, he smiled and thanked me for them. (Yes worth all the hours behind the computer: p)
When he started signing one of the girls gave him a picture, of two fans that couldn’t be there.
Her request, look at the picture when I take photo of it.
He seemed puzzled but agreed. (Yeah he is still kewl)
Then he signed the picture both sides, so they would not have to fight on who got the part with the signature (LOL yes they would)
After signing we all got out picture taken with him (standing next to him this time) then he moved to the last table.
Around 6 p.m. we all went outside to take a picture and guess who stood next to the man: me!
I died when Michel kept saying, closer not all of you are in picture,
more closer…yes there I was cramped up to Roy, trying to smile ( LOL) it was a great way of dying.
After the photo was taken Roy said goodbye and left.
Shortly afterwards I drove with Joyce and Gabi to the hotel in Saint Hyacinthe.
We wanted to get there early but got lost and ended up arriving late anyhow.
When I got in the lobby, first person I bumped into was Cyn. Also met Warren (the Aussie accent is good: p)
We went to the bar for a burger where I also met Vicky and Dana. Only person missing was Sandy.
She was suppose to come in with Cyn and Warren but never made it there.
We went to our room in the TOWER to call her house. But she had left for her trip to Canada.
Luckily she knocked on our door a while later and we where complete.
That evening we of course talked and talked and talked some more, till we fell a sleep.
Friday morning we went downstairs for registration, had breakfast and then got ready for the life auction.
Again the room drooled away with all the hot Roy items. The two auctioneers gave a great performance, this time a chicken was involved!
After the auction we rested for a bit and got ready for the race at 5 p.m.
We gathered in the lobby and where divided in 2 groups to go on the busses.
Our bus got a sign on the window saying: ROY DUPUIS FANS! (Too kewl)
When we arrived at the Auto dome we where brought to the stands. We had the raffle and KG won (who else could have)
We had to wait till about 8 p.m. till Denis took us to the tracks to meet Roy. There he was again…
Standing behind his car, waiting for “the flock of fans” to take pictures. We lined up 2 by 2 to take our picture with him.
After about 20 minutes we all went back to the stands to see the race.
Again the race was crazy, cars crashing, 1 car actually broke down BEFORE the race started!
The whole part of our stand screamed whenever Roy’s car by.
After the race we went back on the bus to go to a hotel nearby for the After Race Party.
Roy was there shortly after us and visited each table.
We got to talk to him again and he signed whatever we asked him.
Later on Cyn asked him to sign a piece of paper for Warren, giving him “command”. Roy went in Michael mode, not wanting to give it.
When he did sign the paper he wrote: To Warren, You have command? Roy.
Also at our table, Brenda asked him what his most memorable birthday gift was; he leaned back in his chair and gave it a long deep thought.
Then told us it was when he was 5 years old and his mom gave him a tank.
He loved it so much because he could ride it together with her. (How sweet)
After about 30 minutes (seemed only 10) he moved to the next table. A group of us left shortly after since we got tooo tired.
Saturday morning I had the best breakfast ever, with my fellow CBTS members, we each got a goodie bag,
that had items in it from Dana, Sandy, Diane and Michelle, thank you ladies, I loved it! And thank you, Cyn for a lovely breakfast!
After breakfast there was the Mira tour, I decided to use this time to rest, since the couple hours sleep a night, got to me.
At 3 p.m. I had to be downstairs to run the first part of the video screening.
But the MIRA tour ran late, so there was only time to show a little bit of footage.
After the screening we had the Darkness dinner, again I found myself blindfolded in the lobby,
I quickly remembered that itching of my eyes, how weird walking is,
when you don’t know where to go, how your ears take over from what you normally see.
When I made it to my chair, we first had the salad, I realised again, how badly I wanted to see my plate,
I wanted to know, what I was eating. I remembered from last year, that on the spaghetti there was a little green thing,
and this time I searched for it, but geez it was not there…( are you prepared…:p)
But I finished my plate, with out spilling even… Again it was an experience,
and I learned new things, and got reminded of how blessed I am to be able to see.
After dinner, Denis gave a great performance, doing Magic tricks. He made the most beautiful creations out of balloons.
After dinner, there was the second video screening.
But first problem accrued when there was no DVD player and most footage was only on DVD.
Luckily some one had a play station we could use. With a thank you to the two guys setting it up, we were able to start the screening.
On Sunday we got to see Monica la Mitraille, it was a KICK ASS movie. Celine did an amazing job, she was very impressive as Monica.
Roy looked HOT, loved seeing him in that different style of clothes and LOVE the short hair.
Sunday afternoon we went to the Royettes party. We saw the directors cut of Hard Landing,
saw some very interesting scenes. During the episode Cyn, Warren and I got brainstorming on Fact files for the domain.
Afterwards we went to eat and stayed talking till we decided to call it a night.
On Monday we went to Montreal, saw Old Montreal and went to the Underground City. Around 6 we went back to Saint Hyacinth to pack.
Tuesday was airport day, final destination : ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO, USA!!!
