Cindy's MIRA Debrief 2003

This was my first trip to the Mira Events, I was'nt sure what to expect, but I was excited and looking forward to it.
Flight schedule problems delayed me in La Guardia airport for 14 hours, by the time I got to the hotel in Canada, my cyber friends and members of CynbytheSea were at the hotel doors to greet me, I loved seeing them all and finally meeting the people that had been in my life that I cared for deeply, all connected thru LFN and Roy Dupuis.

I was told I had 3 hours in which to prepare myself to see a "special guest", and I had been up for 36 hours already.

I wanted to sleep so bad, but there was no time, showered , felt human again and was ushered to a meeting room at the hotel.

A short time later, I am scanning the room, and I look towards the door, and there he stood, with his arms open. I whispered.."he's here..wow..look ladies..."

When Roy got to our table, I was real glad I was a smoker!
The ppl in my table froze and did'nt know what to say, I broke the ice.." Hi Sir! It was great, I was'nt nervous, he has a wonderful smile, he is patient, and he looks directly in your eyes when he speaks to you. I shared my cigerettes with him, we talked about many things, we told him about our group and what we do, we told him about the contests we have and trivia questions about him, we even told him the date his parents were married, which he was rather suprized, he laughed at us, he smiled, it was wonderful.

I told him about Dana's creation of a Virtual Roy, and he asked to join CynbytheSea so he could see it. I told him no, the ladies at the table's mouth dropped. I think Susy pinched me or kicked me, she did something! I would have been honored to have him as a member, but I would'nt have been able to protect his email address, and I had to regretfully decline his request to join, as a site owner it was a business move, as a fan, I died.
Besides, I did'nt want to take advantage of him, all we really had to do was give him the URL to the Virtual Roy creation and we did. I thought Dana was going to totally faint when he turned and placed his face about 5 inches away from her and asked how she created it.

But she held up well. He does'nt act like a typical movie star, he is very down to earth, acting his job, but he is a very special , kind, and wonderful , decent man.

We were'nt suppose to take pictures, but I hate rules! And the rebel in me just had to ask him if it would be alright, he said "yes",and then Heaven and Earth moved and I have no idea where I got the balls to ask him, "ok then, will you take your hands and open your jacket wide so that I can take a picture?", at that moment, he smiled, he looked around the table of women...and blushed and said.. "um..ok.." and he did! I flashed that camara, and as I was focusing, I told myself, "this cannot be real!" I asked to have another pic taken with me sitting next to him, he agreed, and as I sat down next to him, I died again, he placed his arm around me! Did I remember at that point I had a husband, hell no!! Life stopped, and I could not believe that this was happening, he smells goooooood!
He spilled his drink on our table as he was leaving, 9 women offered to clean it up for him and I confiscated his cigerette butts and his lemon from his drink, and thought, "wow, I got his DNA".

He stayed for a long time with all of us and gave each and everyone individual attention. I will never forget the experience.
I wanted his autograph, I flipped thru my purse to find something for him to write on, I pulled out my birth certificate, and smiled and said...."I was born for this moment Sir!"... he signed it, my mom was real proud!

The Darkness Supper was interesting, but we were blindfolded as we ate our meal and drank wine.
I learned that I did not like to be blindfolded! But I also learned that the other senses in my body were more intuned, although I was uncomfortable with the blindfold, after a certain amount of time, you can feel the difference in your body, and you learn what a blind person feels, I am grateful for my sight, and I have a new understanding of the function of what the Foundation Mira does for people.

We attended Video Screening's which I truly enjoyed, a party with the Royette group was so much fun and entertaining, brunch with the AmisParRoy group, which was enlightening, I met so many people, a movie Roy was premiering in at a theatre, tickets provided for us, tour of the Mira facilities that I could'nt attend being alergic to cats & dogs. The auction was awesome,so many, many items, I got a steal with a t-shirt with Roy's "bottom".
The Races and bus trip was great, felt like a kid!! Roy's car wrecked, so later as we were allowed to go onto the grounds, I took a car part that had fallen off the car when it wrecked, I have no clue how it passed Custom's when I left Canada, but it did. When we were'nt getting ready for an event, we were out at the malls, stores, lobby, something always happening.

I enjoyed my time at the event, and I will always carry these special memories with me, but the best part of all, is the connection of friends that I was finally meeting, the love we felt for e/other, that we could only type before, we could now hug one another and really feel the circle of sisterhood, I walked away with new friends, and alot of memories that I will always carry in my heart, and I cannot wait for MIRA 2004 to come, I'm going again! I would'nt miss it for the world...Thank you MIRA!! And God Bless what you do.....
