The members of CynbytheSea express their complete gratitude with the participation of this interview.
The character you created for this role was completely outstanding.
We will continue to follow your career,
and we wish you the very best in life, and the endeavors
that come your way. Good luck honey, smiles from all over the world.....
1.) You were so young when you
first appeared on "La Femme Nikita", who helped you with lines on the show? How was your audition,
and with whom?
EVAN:
I was 5 years old when I first appeared on LFN. At that time I already
knew how to read well and the lines I had weren't very long, so my mom and dad
practiced them with me until I had them memorized. It's been so long that I
don't recall the audition but it most likely was just a sit down with the
producer asking me a few general questions.
2.) The character of Adam in season 5 of
LFN had some pretty traumatic experiences.
Did they explain to you at the time what was going
on in the story, or just have you move from
mark A to mark B?
EVAN:
Season five was exciting. I learned a lot on set. Things may look a
certain way when you watch it on T.V. but it is all pretend on set. My mom was
there with me and everything was explained before I had to do it. It was all
facial expressions that made it look so real.
3.) On LFN, Adam played hockey and soccer.
What's your favorite sport?
EVAN:
I am very sports oriented. Both my parents play various sports. When I was
3 I did karate for about 3 years then I moved on to soccer. I did that for about
5 years. Now I am very much into Hockey which I have been doing for about 3
years. I am a goalie.
When I have some time I also golf with my dad and my
younger brother.
4.) What's your favorite thing to do when you're
not working?
EVAN:
When I'm not working I like to hang out with my friends, play video games,
play hockey or go golfing.
Diane Whitehead ~ Indiana, USA

5.) What was it like working with Samia Shoaib
and Peta Wilson?
EVAN:
Working with both Samia Shoaib and Peta Wilson was an amazing experience.
Samia Shoaib
was my mom on set and she was fun to work with.
Peta Wilson made me feel like part of the gang.
They are both great actresses.
Leah Day ~ Australia

6.) On "La Femme Nikita", you played in a scene
in "Let No Man Put Asunder" and again in
"A Time For Every Purpose", where you were kept
hostage in a little room, where was the location
filmed for that scene?
Was it in the studio or off location?
And what were you told to prepare for that scene?
EVAN: Almost everything that was shot indoors was done in a studio, even the
scene where I was kept hostage. The only locations that were used were if it was
a house or outdoors. For that scene my parents explained to me the script and I
had to pretend to be scared.
7.) What are the restrictions for child actors
compared to actors that are adults?
EVAN:
Child actors are protected by ACTRA in Canada, this is something like SAG
in the USA.
I can only work a total of 9 hours with 1 hour lunch and a 15 minute
break every hour. While adults can work for much longer.
8.) In the scenes you had with actor Roy Dupuis,
where you ever given acting advice from him?
And what was your favorite scene with him?
EVAN:
Roy Dupuis was great. He helped me with a crying scene I had, I'm not very
good at those. I can't remember a specific scene, I liked all of them, but I do
remember him taking a break to shoot some hoops with me.
9.) I have a son that is crazy about X-Box,
almost mesmerized in my opinion.
Feels he absolutely has to master the game,
especially playing Halo 2, are you into video games
as well, and if so, what is it about them that draws
a person into it so deeply?
EVAN:
Yes I love my PlayStation 2. It is great to get a new game and play until
you beat it, then you just want to beat it at a higher level. It is almost like
learning to ride a bike. You get one with training wheels, then you get a
training wheel removed, then the other. You can't put the bike down until you
can ride it. Then you finally master it, you try new tricks.
10.) If acting is a first choice for a career
for your future, what other career choices would
you like to experiment with?
EVAN:
Acting is an option I think I might want to try other fields in acting,
like directing or producing. I'm keeping my options open as I am still young and
there are so many things I would love to do, maybe play hockey professionally or
go into music. I love to play the piano.
11.) What geared your interests towards acting,
and what type of training is involved?
EVAN:
I started acting when I was about 2. My first commercial was with a puppy
dog for a company called Majesta. To me it is all fun. I could pretend to be and
do things I normally might not do. I don't have any training but I know that as
I get older I will need to take some acting classes.
12.) Canada has alot to offer for outdoor activities,
fishing, hunting, mountain climbing, swimming,
do any of these appeal to you?
EVAN:
I live in a big city, Toronto. I have gone camping but haven't tried
fishing, mountain climbing or hunting. I know how to swim and I don't think I
would enjoy hunting. I love nature and animals. Can't see myself hunting or
fishing. I may try mountain climbing some day.
13.) I enjoy doing research on family history,
lineage and origin of our name.
Cynthia in Greek means "Moon Goddess".
Evan in Welsh means "Young Warrior"
What type of special studies do you enjoy?
EVAN:
I like to read, a lot. You learn a lot about everything by reading. I have
a good memory and certain things like sports and science interest me. My mom got
me into learning the origin of our names.
I have a plaque on my desk that says that Evan in Hebrew means
"God is gracious".

14.) Is it difficult to keep up with school when you
are a child actor?
EVAN:
School is not a problem when I am on set. There is always a tutor provided
by the production company. This is mandatory as per ACTRA for all children
actors. It is great because when I return to school I am ahead of the class.
15.) Did your classmates treat you any differently after
you started to act and did they ask you alot of questions about it?
EVAN:
When I started school I had done my first commercial already, so kids
would ask me if I was that boy in the commercial. I've been at the same school
for 8 years so most of the kids are use to it. They will ask questions when they
see something new that I've done.
16.) Who was the funniest person in the crew and cast
of "La Femme Nikita"?
Did you have a good time on the set?
EVAN:
I was very young, so I don't remember who the funniest person in the crew
or cast of LFN was. I spent most of my time with my mom. I had a wrangler (a
crew member that is in charge of getting me to set on time) he was great! A lot
of the cast members would visit my dressing room and would talk to me or my mom.
I had a great time on set, I learned a lot.
17.) Do you enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy books?
Is playing in a Sci-Fi movie
(like Threshold) more
exciting than others?
EVAN:
I enjoy reading various types of books. I do enjoy sci-fi and fantasy
books. But being in a movie like Threshold is not necessarily more exciting.
Each movie set is different just like the characters I play.
I enjoy the different movie sets because I get to meet so many different people
and I learn a lot. I get to be someone that I am not and dress up in cloths that
I may never wear, like in the movie Haven.
It was a movie about world war II.
Dana Vrajitoru ~ Indiana, USA

18.) Do you have any pets at home?
And if not which would you like to have?
EVAN:
I have a cat named Misty. I do like animals, at one time we had a dog,
Benji two love birds and Misty the cat. Misty has outlived them all, she is even
older then me (13 human years) which makes her about 91.
19.) Which subjects at school are your favorite
and which you don't like that much?
EVAN:
At school I like math and science and like most kids gym! I don't like
French much, I think it is kind of boring and easy. I guess the Portuguese
background helps.
20.) Do you have a favorite superhero?
Which things are you into for kids of your age?
EVAN:
My favorite superhero is Batman. He is just an ordinary guy who doesn't
have any super powers like Spiderman or Superman but he always gets the bad guy
no matter what.
I like video games and watching WWE. I also play and watch various sports.
Vera Schweinhuber ~ Prague, Czech Republic
*****************************************************
21.) Can you tell us about current or future projects
your working on?
EVAN:
This year I haven't worked on anything yet. I did film a show called RFR
(Radio Free Roscoe) last year which gave this year on T.V. I don't have any
future projects but hope to work on something soon.
22.) During the times you where on the set,
do you remember any bloopers or
fun moments you can share with us?
EVAN:
I don't remember any bloopers, everyone took their jobs seriously. They
would probably joke off set. Most of the scenes were serious so everyone had to
get into the moment. I remember having fun on all the shoots, Adam got to play
video games, basketball, play with a remote control car and hockey all of which
I like.
Chrissy Langeveld ~ Netherlands

23.) Although the part is not credited, many fans
think the boy who played Michael's sister's son in
the tag of HALF LIFE was you, since there is a resemblance and we cannot really
see his face clearly.
Was that you? Is that how you were later cast
to play Michael's son, Adam?
EVAN:
I didn't get to watch LFN until I was about 8 and not all of it. My
parents thought some parts were to violent and mature for me. I don't know who
played that character but it wasn't me. I was cast to play Adam right from the
beginning.
Kristen Glanzman ~ New Jersey, USA

24.) What do you like and dislike the most about acting?
EVAN:
I can't say that there is anything I dislike so far. I have had great
experiences, met a lot of people who I am friends with, done and have gone to
many places that most kids can't imagine. I have also learned things that most
kids my age don't know yet.
25.) What can you tell us about your school?
What is it like? Which are your favorite subjects?
EVAN:
I go to a Catholic school, we don't wear uniforms. Here it is considered a
regular school.
It is close to my house and it goes from JK (junior kindergarten) to grade 8. It
is average in size about (550 kids) and I really like it. My favorite subjects
are math and science. Next year when I go to grade 7, it will be like high
school. Every subject is taught by a different teacher.
Claudia Conde ~ Argentina

26.) Did you know about the success of LFN?
What do you think of it now?
EVAN:
I didn't know about the success of LFN until about now. I was very
surprised when I was contacted to do this interview. I guess because it is more
of an adult show I don't get to hear much about it. I am very happy that it is
so popular and I will do what I can to help out.
27.) Do people recognize you for your work in LFN?
EVAN:
I haven't got stopped for LFN because I guess it is an adult show and the
people that recognize me are kids my age. I don't get stopped, kids that know
me, usually at school will ask if it was me in that McDonald's commercial or the
Rice Krispies commercial. Some commercials will give only
in the USA and some only in Canada.
28.) Would you like to do theater? What in particular?
EVAN:
I haven't really considered it. I've been really busy with hockey that it
hasn't crossed my mind. I think I may try it, but I have always told my parents
that my biggest dream would be to be in a big screen movie and to go to
Hollywood.
Ana Marķa- Rosario ~Argentina
**************************************************
29.) Do other kids and/or people
recognize you when you are out?
Do they ask for autographs?
EVAN:
No I don't get stopped for autographs, I am just an ordinary kid. I get
asked by my school mates if I did that McDonald's commercial and how cool it
must have been to meet Vince Carter.
30.) What other languages do you speak?
EVAN:
I speak Portuguese and French. I hope to visit Portugal some day soon. My
parents are both from there but came to Canada very young. I have never flown
anywhere and I can't wait to have the
experience of flying.
Warren Stewart ~ Perth, Australia

31.) Do you have go to a special school since your acting keeps you from regular
schooling or do you manage to work around your career and school?
EVAN:
I go to a regular school. It is a catholic school but we don't wear
uniforms. I have a tutor on set when I have to miss school to shoot a scene,
otherwise most filming is done during the summer holidays or on weekends.
32.) Does anyone else in your family act or just yourself?
EVAN:
My younger brother Lucas has also done a few commercials. He got into it
because he would go with us to the auditions and wanted to try it. A lot of
people say we look a lot alike, when we go to an audition they call him mini
Evan.
33.) What other things are you interested in other
than your acting career?
EVAN:
To me acting isn't a career yet, it's like a hobby or extra activity. I do
it for fun, just like I play all sorts of sports, soccer, hockey, basketball and
golf. I enjoy doing them all.
34.) "La Femme Nikita" was a long series, did you enjoy
learning all your lines
and since you were only five at the time,
how did you memorize them?
How long have you been acting?
EVAN:
I was on 3 different seasons of LFN but not on all the episodes. My lines
were very easy to memorize. My parents say I have a great memory. They would
practice them with me. Even if you don't have them memorized each scene was done
a section at a time in many different camera angles so you would have various
chances to do the same line.
I have been acting since I was 2, but to me it was
like dress up or pretend.
35.) Do you have go to a special school since
your acting keeps you from regular schooling
or do you manage to work around your career and school?
EVAN:
No I don't go to a special school. I attend a regular catholic school. I'm
not like the famous actors from Spy Kids. I'm just an ordinary kid. I do regular
kid stuff, but some day I would like to be on the big screen.
36.) Do you play a musical instrument and if so what type?
EVAN:
I play the piano and have played it for 3 years. I really got into it
because my dad got me a keyboard for Christmas one year and since then I can't
get enough.
37.) Working on "La Femme Nikita", did you make any long term friends there and
do you still visit occasionally
with them?
EVAN:
Most of the cast on LFN are adults and don't live near me. There was a
cast good-bye party which I went with my dad and had a great time.
Evan, again, thank you for the time you are spending
answering our questions and as a grandmother
I think your ability in this profession is truly wonderful!
Sandy Meridith ~ Kansas, USA
