AURORA - " HAND TO HAND"

Marjean Holden, consenting to allow our group to interview you has been a wonderful pleasure, we thank you so much for your time, wishing you the best from CynByTheSea.

Q1.) How did you feel about your character's situation in "Hand to Hand"

MARJEAN: Well, let's see...I was being held captive by some really bad guys, who made me fight for my supper basically, and kill girls that really shouldn't have been killed. It was not pretty! No seriously. It was a very not a really great position to be in. Deep down, she knew what she was doing was wrong, however out of the need to survive, was willing to do whatever she had to. She didn't feel like she had a choice. Even though she had the run of the place, she had lost her freedom.

Q2.) What was it like to play Aurora? It looks like you enjoyed the role, despite of the things she had to do to remain alive?

MARJEAN: It was actually really fun. I always say, being good is great, but being bad is even better! (as far as acting roles go!) When you are one of the bad guys, you can pretty much get away with anything! You don't have to succumb to a certain template, you have the freedom to create whatever you desire.

Q3.) Was it difficult to film the water fight with Peta Wilson?

MARJEAN: It was in fact quite tiring. The water...thank GOD, was like bath water...however, made me just want to chill out! And not being a water baby per se...Having to struggle and make it believable take after take was a bit of a challenge. Especially trying to keep the water out of my nose!

Thank you Marjean and all the best for the future,
Leah., Australia

Thank you Leah! All the best to you as well!

Q4.) How was your audition for LFN? Any special skill was required for the part?

MARJEAN: My audition was fairly simple. I went in to the casting director and producer I believe, and read the part. They knew that I had a martial arts background, and that was pretty much it, as far as I remember. They had originally hired someone else for the role and they fell through, so they called in a few girls they knew would be able to handle the physical part of it.

Q5.) What is your next project?

MARJEAN: I just wrapped filming on a Bruce Willis movie called HOSTAGE. I play a police officer on his squad. I have also purchased the rights to a Trilogy of sci fi/fantasy novels that I am adapting for television. We are in the process of manifesting a deal at the moment!

Claudia Conde Buenos Aires, Argentina

Thank you for your questions Claudia!

MARJEAN: got along great with both of the boys! I miss working with them! They are really cool guys, we had alot of fun together.

Is it true that you replaced the blonde from WWF who was suppose to have did the La Femme Nikita episode?

MARJEAN: believe it was actually Chynna that I replaced. That was what I was told.

Q8.) Is it difficult for you to get dates being a very tall and long leggy woman? I love your height wish I had some of it myself.

MARJEAN: (smiling) It isn't actually being tall and leggy that hinders me from getting dates! There are guys that absolutely love it...and the other ones? Well, that's on them!

Thank you Marjean

MARJEAN: No, I didn't see dailies, and as a practice, I pretty much avoid them on everything I do.

Q14.) Did you have much input into your character's development? If so, how did it differ from that of the writers/producers/director?

MARJEAN: I pretty much got to do my own thing. There was alot of freedom there.

Q16.) Had you been watching the series La Femme Nikita before you were chosen to play Aurora in "Hand to Hand"?

MARJEAN: I had only seen a few episodes, but they did give me a bunch of tapes so I could get in touch with the vibe of the show before I actually worked.

Q17.) That episode was quite 'dark'. Did you find your role emotionally and/or physically draining?

MARJEAN: It was quite draining physically. Not so much emotionally. And yes, it was a very dark episode. It is always a challenge to keep you energy up when an episode is like that, it requires a bit more awareness, not to fall into a space of melancholy.

Thank you so much for taking the time for this interview, Ms Holden. "Hand to Hand" was one of my favorite episodes.

Q19.) How do you pronounce your name and what language/orgin is it from?

MARJEAN: My name is a combination of my first and middle names. Let's see...how to convey the way it sounds over the internet...Mar...quite simple...except for you Aussies...my crew often times just called me Mahji! And the last part...Jean...just like the kind you wear!

Q20.) I enjoyed the show CRUSADE , the Babylon-5 spin-off you did. What was your reaction that when after such a short run of less than a season , it was cancelled?

MARJEAN: That was a major bummer for all of us! We were having such a great time, and were just starting to really get to know each other and get into some great storylines! However...we rerun all the time on various channels, so Crusade is still alive and well!

Q21.) I see on your site that you frequent conventions. What are your feelings about such gatherings and do you think it's such a strange mob?

MARJEAN: I do frequent conventions, and I absolutely love it! They are no stranger a mob than the people in my industry! I can tell you that! I love connecting with the fans. Sci fi/ fantasy fans are the most loyal fans around!

Warren Stewart, Perth is beautiful.

MARJEAN: Not that I recall..

Q23.) What was the process of your time spent on the set of LFN on an average day?

MARJEAN: The days as I recall, were pretty long, maybe 10-12 hours. Early mornings!

Q24.) Can you tell us about some of the training you've dealt with for your roles dealing with stunts in movies such as "Blade" and "Speed 2"?

MARJEAN: I have been an athlete my entire life. I trained Martial arts for 10 years, and worked with some stunt people on high falls, fights, weapons etc. Speed 2 was just sort of a ready set GO! not something that you go out and practice...I had to fall off a boat into the ocean.

Q25.) When did you feel acting was going to be a part of your life? And what did you do to make it happen?

MARJEAN: I knew in the 4th grade that I wanted to be an actress. From then on, I was in every play that I could be in, Drama classes, modeling started at 15, then continued when I got to college. After college, I worked as a production assistant on a couple of movies, landed my first part on one of them..."Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure", moved out here to Hollywood, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Q26.) Someone once taught you a valuable life lesson, share with us something from that please..

MARJEAN: Always follow your heart...your heart will never steer you wrong, but your mind will... Malidoma Patrice Some~Author and Spiritual Advisor
