Gail

Tara, it's been wonderful interviewing you. We learned alot, you are truly multi-talented, and we wish you the absolute very best! We will be following your career, good luck in all you do! Kris, thank you for your involvement in helping make this interview possible.
From the members of CynbytheSea...

1.) Can you elaborate more on your collaboration with Matthew Ferguson for the role of Gail? Did you exchange ideas about how to play scenes? Is he as sweet in real life as his character Birkoff?

TARA: It came very naturally and didn't require too much planning. Yes, he's incredibly sweet!

2.) Did you think of any back-story for Gail while you were playing her?

TARA: I did, though it was so long ago...

3.) How difficult was the selection process for Rock Star: INXS? By the way, I enjoyed your performance. You rock!

TARA: A Joydrop fan actually sent INXS some of my videos and music and they called me based on that. I was lucky enough to skip the first round of auditions and spent a rigorous week in L.A. for the finals. I worked my tail off!

4.) Is there any singer or group which is your ideal taste? Which music do you listen if you want to relax?

TARA: I have very diverse taste (sang opera, studied classical, done musical theatre, worked in a record store) so it's hard to say what my ideal is. I'm currently in love with Tom Petty, Interpol, Martha Wainwright, Feist.

5.) Did you make any friends from actors and actress of LFN? Do you meet some of them from time to time?

TARA: Umm, not really. I did like everyone, though.

Vera ~ Prague, Czech Republic

6.) What made you enter the INXS competition?

TARA: It was not an easy decision for me, but I thought that at the very least it would be a chance to increase my profile. It seemed like such a weird opportunity that I had to do it. I didn't want to wonder "what it would have been like to be on rockstar:inxs" for the rest of my life.

7.) How have both your personal and professional areas of life changed after doing so well in the INXS-rockstar?

TARA: My profile has definitely increased and more offers of various kinds are coming in. I think I'll really see a difference when my album comes out.

8.) To do things well in life. Ambition or talent? Which comes first?

TARA: I would hope talent... But most of the time both are required.

9.) Can you tell us about the tattoo on your arm?

TARA: It's my first and middle name in Tibetan, Tara Kamala. I was raised as a Buddhist and my parents gave me the name "Tara" after the feminine aspect of compassion in Tibetan Buddhism. "Kamala" was given to me by my parents guru, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and it means "White Lotus."

Warren Stewart~ Perth, Australia.

10.) I read that your formal band, Joydrop, isn't together these days, and that you are busy on a solo album. Can you tell us about that?

TARA: Joydrop broke up a few years ago, though I still play with two of the guys. I've been working on my solo album over the last couple of years with a musician named Jordon Zadorozny and it's pretty much ready to go. I just have to find the right situation.

11.) When you work on the set of a TV show, or when you have to perform on stage, describe a typical day?

TARA: Wow, you want an essay! A day on a film set is pretty different that being out on the road with a rock band, though both include alot of sitting around. A TV day usually starts early and ends late, a show day usually starts late and ends later!

12.) What do you like to do in your spare time?

TARA: I try to have a regular meditation practice and have a volunteer position at the Buddhist center at which I'm a member. I'm also trying to learn German (just for fun). I try to work out regularly, drink good wine and watch lots of hockey!

13.) What made you choose the part of Gail? Had you seen episodes of La Femme Nikita prior to when you where on it?

TARA: You have to be pretty lucky in the film biz to choose a role - you're lucky to land an audition let alone a part! Luckily I ended up with a good one... Yes, I'd seen the show and enjoyed it.

14.) How was the audition process for La Femme Nikita?

TARA: Pretty simple. An audition consisting of a couple of scenes and that was it!

Chrissy Langeveld ~ Leiden, Netherlands

15.) You are on a red carpet event, what kind of dress would you wear and who would the designer be? Favorites such as Versace, Ralph Lauren and Collette Dinnigan?

TARA: Ooooh you ask too much - too much choice! I'd love to get my hands on some Galliano...

Leah Day ~ Australia

16.) What is your favorite role to portray?

TARA: I'd have to say that I like being myself on a stage the best.

17.) Is there an actor or actress you admire and would love to work with?

TARA: Too many to pick! I'd love to tour with Interpol, The Killers, Gwen Stefani, anybody good! My mentors are all great musicians, past and present.

27.) If singing and acting were to become secondary in your life, what other type of profession would you pursue?

TARA: Maybe a sports commentator, TV host, some kind of counselor.

28.) Every singer has an "unspoken voice within", where do you draw your force from?

TARA: My belief in the fundamental goodness of all beings including myself. I draw on a confidence that exists no matter what - like the sun that rises in the east every day without exception. The sun may be obscured by clouds, but it is always there......
